Worst truckstop ever?

One more to mention, Liberty truck stop in WV. I stopped there a couple years back and when I went inside, the things that I saw, will probably stick with me a lifetime, now, the people were great, the facility on the other hand, left plenty to be desired! While I was inside getting ready to leave, there came a pretty good rain storm, and the buliding itself was flooding pretty rapidly. Instead of trying to find mops or even brooms to try to push the water out, these people took off their shoes, rolled their pants up and started trying to kick the water out!!!! I was laughing so hard I nearly pee'd my pants, but the best part was when they looked at me and told me that they had to try to get the water out as quick as possible because they were afraid it would get to and short out the tanning bed they had in the back!! They actually had a tanning bed in the shower area for the drivers! Not really the worst truck stop, but certainly doesn't rank up there on my list of places I just HAVE to stop again. Unless it's raining and I need a laugh.

The truckstop in Orlando,441 just south of the Beeline.Dirt lot, huge holes, bad food and they charge you for the privilege.Been at least 10 yrs since I've had the misfortune to stop here and I hope it will be double that before I stop there again.

Dishonorable mention: Damn near any pilot.Cramped lots,no real amenities.Get in ,buy our fuel and get out.

Well I've not been in a truckstop outside of the one here in town for a while, BUT,
many years ago (70's I think.) we pulled into a greasy spoon-truck flop somewhere on the lost side of 66. The waitress looked my my grandmother, (Maybe because granny has been dead since the 60's.) The restroom was a outhouse that had a Sears and Roebuck catalog. (You know it's winter when you get to the color pages.)

Went inside to order some breakfast. Was asked to wait while they gather the eggs.
And the coffee, THE COFFEE!!! They strained the used grounds through the panty hose the waitress wore that morning. And who know where she was or who she was with the night before.

We finally decided to pass on the grub and stumbled our way back onto the bus, found some leftover pizza between the seats and called it a morning!

This is a almost true story from a tour to Clovis with Charlie Feathers and the Charlie Feathers Band. I was playing drums for Charlie.

Hate to dig up an old thread but....
Nobody has metioned the Pilot on I-10 just north of Baton Rouge, La.
Absolutely the worst shit-hole I've ever seen, and I've been to most of the ones mentioned before in this thread. There is a Petro across the road from it that is nearly as bad, but the Pilot is terrible! So much trash in the lot that you cant help but kick it walking inside, and its deep enough to conceal some dead crack-whores

I got schooled pretty bad at Pilot. That place is terrible. A narrow alley and trucks facing each other with about 20 feet distance nose to nose.

You'd think everyone understands how bad a situation that is, but it seems the 25-year veterans like to hang out there just to talk shit about drivers trying to park and making it harder. Personally I wouldn't even TRY it yet, got inches in front AND back... too stressful. Others do it and get bitched at just for getting out and looking. There was almost a fistfight over it when a US Express guy had the nerve to get out 2 times at night to look while a Heartland Express guy was waiting to pass.

I do hope I get good and confident enough to park at one of those places at some point. Right now it just seems like too much unnecessary risk and a very poor design for trucks to park.

You have a way with words(dead crack whores)LMAOOOOOOO There are so many truck stops not fit for humans. That just goes to show what they think of truck drivers.

I've been to many truckstops like that makes me wonder with all the money they steal from the truckers everyday why they don't make the lot bigger. Some I would have to back out of the lot just to turn around.

Dont worry about backing into tight places. If there is any doubt at all, get out and look and %^@# anyone else that doesnt like it. Never let anyone rush you.

Like anything else, backing takes practice. It took me about 3 months or so to get confident enough to slide back in between 2 trucks in a dark lot. But just because you're "confident" doesnt mean you dont get out and look if you need to.

Some are better than I was, and some are worse.

Then, there's JB that takes up 3 spaces...

Yeah the backing itself isn't so bad. I can use the 2 step process of backing in halfway at the right angle, then pulling up once to straighten out. But when your tractor is at a 90-degree angle to the truck in front of you come pull up time... ??????????

I watched a couple and it was still bewildering. Only reason I was there was because I got there at noon and there were several open spots opposing each other... I just got to watch the lot fill up over time.

Exactly. That is why I prefer to drive at night. Finding a decent parking spot is easier at 3pm than it is at 10pm.

I've never been to that particular pilot, that I remember. But I've been in some tight places. Like the Loves in Milan NM. I made the mistake of pulling in there one night for some reason. I almost couldn't get out.

Loves truck stops have some of the most jacked up parking I have ever seen. Nothing worse that waking up and in a hurry to leave, only to be stuck having to pull into the line of trucks waiting to fuel just so you can leave.

I only stayed at one Love's in Dublin, GA. It was all right. A big L for parking and nearly all the spots were straight-backs. I was hoping there was some reliability in what to expect by chain, but I also coulda swore I passed a Pilot on the way here to Ohio that was set up nice like that Love's too. Guess you don't know until you stop there and look.

I love that little town. They hold the annual redneck games there everyyear. And they are the sister to dublin, ireland. i used to deliver there on a weekly basis and ask several people about that.

Pilot in Orange Texas
Pumps not working 1-1 1/2 hr wait for fuel
Clerks swearing at each other and threatening to quit
Showers dirty and not working
NO parking, parking lot trash everywhere
Call 1-800# on shower door, got shower back on card plus $10 worth pts for headache
Will never stop there again.

Yup fueling at that Pilot is usually a challenge. I only showered there, maybe twice, but, never again. There is something strange about the water there. Once you get the soap on, it feels like you can never get it off. It is totally yuck!! It's been a couple of years, but, I still remember that. It's etched in my brain...

2xR; stopped doing Pilot fuel stops....

I'm not a fan of pilots in general, but probably for other reasons. The sh!th0le Pilot in Hampton, NJ (I-78, X 12). I hate to even piss in there, much less use their crappy showers (located in the bathrooms with towels on the floor underneth the doors).
That Pilot was a dump before Pilot even bought it, The truck stops was called Johnnys Truck Stop and believe it or not you used to have to pay to park there.

A few more that were the pits; T/A Jessup Md, 76/TA Garland Tx,
76/TA Bollingbrook Ill, T/A Nashville, and last but not least, the Pilot in Birmingham.

Some of the older Loves were terrible, but the new ones they are opening are a lot smarter.

I still hate the showers though. They remind me of prison showers. Or what I'd see in a prison shower if I ever went to prison.

...

Okay, government showers. Bare bones, pipe out of the wall type things.

Not prison showers.

Get that image out of your mind already. I should have though of another example. sheesh.
