that's where it might have been. as i think i mentioned, it was basically when i was first driving back in the early 1990's.

i would have thought they would have been bought out by Speedway or some other franchise.

but yeah, still there huh...??

actually i just now have been trying to do some googling on Starvin' Marvin's.

it does seem to have several hits, some being a type of old fashion dinner. but that's not the Starvin Marvin i'm talking about.

in another google search, it does indeed pop up as a Speedway/Starvin Marvin convienence type of operation, you know, fuel milk, bread, etc.

only now as i do a search for Speedway in florida, nothing shows up.........

that's odd. it should pop up something in florida. maybe they are running under another name and filed bankrupt under the starvin marvin name. i could swear they are still operable but i could be wrong. i haven't been to that area in about 8 - 10 months.

that's what i thought too. this is why i was thinking about Speedway. i thought for sure some time ago i heard that Speedway took over starvin marvin. oh well, i don't forsee me getting down there any time soon. but it certainly was an 'adventure", just like "the other" truckstop, which actually wasn't, it was located at a junkyard somewhere's (down florida). you pulled into the deeply rutted parking lot, nearly breaking your springs, and the junk yard which used the very same driveway was locked up. the building (of this stop) had the dirtiest windows. it looked like a LARS rocket hit the place, and there were people inside...!! hairy, bearded, smelly people....and those were the women.....!! REALLY........!!!:wtf:

the truckstops in florida are not known for being the greatest. with the shippers/recievers/truckstops florida is a nightmare for truck drivers.

It has been quite a while since I have had the joy of running in Florida. Don't miss it for a second! :)

if you have you seen one strip bar you have seen them all.

but the girls are different...........

some have........

some don't have.........:dunno:

still others have a little of........:bounce:

where's my Hustler mag when i need it........!!!!:tiphat:

The Pilot on the east side of Atlanta (on the loop) is a piece of crap! I parked on the side of the street because the truck stop was packed, and this was mid-morning. Run inside to use the bathroom and get a drink. Walking back out to the truck 5 minutes later and a couple idiots had my trailer doors open looking for something to steal!

Luckily, it was empty, and of course it would have been locked had I had any freight in the trailer :)

Anyhow, this truck stop is always full, and the filth that goes into and out of it is scary. Atlanta needs more truck stops, and needs some security around them.

Ill agree with you on the harrisburgh, pa. When i got gas there it took me for ever. Its so tight and theres so many trucks. Was hard to get in and out of that place.

Well steer clear of the Warfield in midland on 1-20 and fm78. went there tonight to get a bit to eat. parking was ok infact snagged a front spot not to far from the entrance to the resturant. went inside and no buffet infact they don't even offer one at any time, so i ordered the choped steak with mased potatoes and they brought it to me red raw when i cut it open. so i told the manager and she refused to do anything at all she said thas the way they cook them and if i wanted it cooked well i should have told the waitress. but the waitress never offered me a prefrence as far as cooking of the meat.

So i paid my tab and headed to the restroom, filthy and more than half the stalls was backed up. so i exited to my rig to get some diesel and had to wait near 45 minutes.

so to top the evening off as i am finishing up on my other tank i get approached by a man and woman asking me if i could spare 20 bucks for some gas for thei pickup. i said no and proceeded with my business so he walks around as i am hanging up the pump as hits me again for money, i told him look i already told you no now get. so i am walking inside to get some snacks and they are following back a piece behind me. so i figure when i head out they are going to try something. luckily they didn't but i raised this concern to management but again they were pretty unresponsive. they made the remark that they have seen them here many times before but they never do anything.

So to sum it up

Parking is good

Food is bad

Toilets are bad

Customer service is non exsistent

Fuels lines are a joke

And driver saftey is not high on their list or priorites.

Steer clear of this choke and puke at all costs.

Nice review on Warfield. I stopped in there occasionally a few years back when I was running Texas to California every week. Sounds like the place has run down a bit.

Yeah it sure ain't what it used to be thats for sure. they still have the hair cut place and the arcade and things like that but the overall feel of the place was just seedy.

Absolute Worst

Some people may know of the place I Will refer to, some never to have gone there or even know where it is.

Maxton, NC

BP Located directly across from Campbell's Soup.

not exactly what we refer to as a truck stop, but has amenities 4 us all.. anyways u think the Dallas T/A or Flying J is bad for crackheads banging on your door all day and night? Not even close compared to here. Many of you have had to pick up at Campbell's soup there in Maxton, NC and are aware of how bad the appalachain whores are. They come out the woods, literally. =p
