Got one out. The other is hella stubborn. Next to a 3lb hammer for scale.

It wasn't super difficult but it took my air hammer to rotate it then wedge it out and rotate it back and forth several times to make it move freely. That got it out by about an inch. Then to finish removing it I drew it out with the come along and chain using the day cab as an anchor. It didn't go flying. I had to tap it with a hammer and keep adjusting the tension on the puller then it finally dropped.
These photos are it hooked to the stubborn side. I haven't gotten it to move freely but thought I'd try anyway since I was set up already. I did manage to get it to rotate slightly away from the threaded holes but not much. There's still hope though.

Made no progress on the passenger side. Packed it in and up and soaked it in PB Blaster. Don't know if it'll help but it won't hurt. Moved the truck back out front because of a storm warning and I don't want to tear up the grass getting out from where it was.
I had to order a new regulator for my air compressor because it's leaking big time.
Should have that by Wednesday. I don't think it was affecting the air hammer very much but it wasn't doing it any favors. It got the easier side out even while leaking.
The fact that I got that passenger side pin clocked away from alignment with the holes tells me I just need to keep at it.
I don't think the slide hammer would do any good at this point even if I made the adapter or had one machined. I think it's just an OSHA compliant substitute for what I'm doing with the come along.

Gave up and swapped the 5th wheel off the day cab. Took me a little under 2 hours.
I should have accepted the loss of rise in the first place. I didn't buy or borrow any lifting equipment. I slid the 5th wheel off the sleeper onto my pickup tailgate, then dumped it over where it'll be grabbed later as scrap. Then I slid the 5th wheel off the day cab onto the tailgate, then used the come along to slide it up onto the sleeper. Once I got over the drop part of the frame rails I could slide it into place.
So yeah 4 weeks of drama for nuffin'
Oh well. Live and learn. I'm gonna see if fleet pride will accept this new plate as a return.
I dont see myself buying a bracket for it at this point.

Had to run the plate to the Frederick Fleet Pride where I bought it but they took it back and issued a full refund.
Worth the trip to get that $1600 back in my pocket.

First day back was a bust. First load I was supposed to take from the yard wasn't in the yard, and there was no support to make changes.
We used to have great support 24/7 then it became hit or miss support at night and great support during the day. Anymore it seems like support is crap 24/7.
The lady who used to always be in the local office doesn't seem to be involved anymore. She's the reason I've stayed. The more unavailable she becomes the worse it gets.

Two days in and I already hate my 5th wheel. No joke it makes the sleeper feel like the day cab. I like the snugness pulling from a stop but holy Hanna it bounces all over the place.
I bet it's because the bushings are so fat compared to the Jost. Lots more give for a spring ride container to toss you around.
I wonder if I had put a Jost on the day cab back then it wouldn't have had me chasing ride and handling issues.

In other news my Verizon home internet modem decided to shut down at some point Thursday night/Friday morning.
I didn't really notice until I couldn't print anything and my phone wasnt connected.
For whatever reason the modem/router won't power at all. I let it sit unplugged for at least 12 hours and nada.
Hopefully Verizon will send me a new one otherwise I'll be canceling my plan.

Damn if that happened to me and it probably will, I would be screwed! I pretty much stream everything via Chromecast.

We don't have cell service at all 15 miles one way and 30 the other if our Starlink was to go down. It's happened once since we moved here but that was a whole system outage.
Ther few spots across the bay you can kinda get a call are few and I swear they move. That's a vast majority of the island.

Fortunately I can Hotspot my phone in the meantime. I'm a big streamer as well. The phone doesn't draw 5G as fast as the home internet box though.

Nous n’avons absolument aucun service cellulaire : 24 km dans un sens et 48 km dans l’autre si notre Starlink tombe en panne. C’est arrivé une fois depuis que nous avons emménagé ici, mais c’était une panne de tout le système.
Les rares endroits de l’autre côté de la baie où l’on arrive plus ou moins à passer un appel sont très peu nombreux, et je te jure qu’ils se déplacent. Ça représente la grande majorité de l’île.
