Worst truckstop ever?

You are in for a disappointment if you hit the one south of Jacksonville too Racer. Only about half the lot is paved, the rest looks like it was shelled heavily by the USS Missouri before it went to dry dock. It is just another run down dump. Florida is not an overly truck friendly place at all. You are far better off only using those places to shower, then finding a nice Walmart to camp out at. Or get your company to spring for a motel if they are going to sit you for 4 days. A lot of times the customer you delivered to will let you leave an empty trailer on their property if you have to stay in the area, leaving you free to bobtail to your hearts content.

Unfortunately the consignee didn't have room for two trucks at a time, and no room to turn around. When I left I had to drag the trailer over a flowerbed and dodge employee cars parked in places that were posted "no parking". And the place is huge. But they have set aside only a very small area for shipping and receiving.

There were a lot more cars when I was there.

The dock is in the upper right corner, and the guy actually wanted me to back up to it. I told him it was a flatbed and he said, "That's funny, this stuff always comes in those trailers with doors on the back."

I said, "You mean a dry van?"

He didn't know what a dry van was, but then one pulled in behind me and he pointed to it and said, "Like that."

That is because of the loser truck drivers who throw their trash on the ground and drive their trailers over the flower beds.

I am ashamed of some of my peers.

I pull into Walmart all the time to do shopping, and sometimes to stay the night. I generally don't pull into their lots if I am loaded heavy though, as they aren't really built for that kind of weight. I have seen them posted that they don't allow trucks, but have never been asked to leave.

Most walmarts round here put in those cement triangle things so the trucks can't get in through the front. And tow signs for over night parking.
We have one that leaves them alone and one winn Dixie.
 
I should'nt be knocking this truckstop,after all it's in my home town,only 10 minutes from where I live.But this truckstop is HORRIBLE.Potholes big enough to sink a car.It's like lets play dodge the pothole game.I normally park next to the fence and drop the trl but not this hometime.Mud everywhere and potholes on top of potholes.I'm heavy but i'm going to wait till I get to Avoca,IA and weigh this load.I don't like their scale.They only have one fuel hose,so when you're done with one tank you bring the hose to the other side.They do have someone to do it for you,but this guy is so heavy takes him 5 minutes just to walk to the trk.The truck stop is truck heaven in Sioux City.Sioux Harbor just down the street is much better but they don't allow dropped trls.
 
Anyone remember Laslie"s in San Leandro, CA? built on top of an old garbage dump, with monstrous sink holes, had to scrape the grease off the inside of the restaurant windows just to see if your truck sank or not....
