What needs to be done to attract more women drivers to the industry?

I didn't jump down your throat for not being able to do it.

I jumped down your throat for making nothing but excuses on why you can't or won't do your job.

And you're still making excuses.

Now it's my fault and all I'm doing is changing my expectations.

Whatever.

It's not even worth giving you a quarter.
Apparently you didn't read anything except what you wanted to read.

Typical truck driver.

I think youre missing my point or we got off track to what we were talking about.Anyway I always got approval from boss before taking anything to shop and yes there was back and forth bickering but he knew if he didn't have shop fix whatever i'm not going nowhere. I never took it upon myself to do whatever without talking to boss first.
I commend you on that.

But sometimes, the boss just needs to be told its getting handled and being addressed.

I know there are days I wished my "employee" side just dealt with it so I wouldn't have to.

OOS criteria aren't an option in getting fixed. Too much at stake otherwise.

Being the equipment operator, it's your responsibility to either put it in the shop or not. No one else's.

Now needing an oil change in 500 miles vs not working for a day or dropping it off at the end of the day to get it done after I go home.....

That's reasonable to schedule with the boss first.

He may be aware of something like, adding a new seat, or a software update or something additional to take to a different shop to get it all done.

Go back and read what I've said.

Corporate companies with brand new warrantied trucks are also a completely different animal from the mom and pop operation with old equipment.

We can't touch the truck, but we can fix trailers. That's where our problems are anyway. 2016 trucks don't tend to have can't-get-home issues. Glitches, absolutely, but rarely anything crippling.

The 2013 ProStar I drive more often than anything has more serious problems but nothing a battery disconnect won't reset. It's on its way out anyway once we get some more mileage on it.

Because I was in Chicago away from home in the middle of a two week run.

I must have really struck a nerve with you.

One that's too close to being the truth.
Excuses. ;)

Yeah you struck a nerve. Damn near got a concussion fixing shit to get the job done. So for you to put me in the lazy category?

Oh you decided not to read that part earlier. It didn't fit your narrative.

Yeah you struck a nerve. Damn near got a concussion fixing **** to get the job done. So for you to put me in the lazy category?

Oh you decided not to read that part earlier. It didn't fit your narrative.
Yeah, I did read it earlier.

And decided it was irrelevant.

It's an excuse for you now.

Get over it.

Think you're the first person to wack your head fixing stuff?.

Need to hold you to task too for calling people lazy when you don't even understand.

I missed over two months of work because I had what were thought to be seizures and possibly as a result of that incident.

Fortunately it wasn't, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna bust my head open again or risk it...for a repair a shop can do with the proper tools.

Anyone who accuses me of sluffing off doesnt know me at all and it chaps my ass when they don't listen.

Did you know that if you hit your head too hard too many times it WILL cause seizures and other medical disorders, causing you to lose your CDL, your livelihood, and potentially your life?

Ain't no repair worth that risk. And nobody has a head hard enough for that to not apply to them.

I spent two months and thousands of dollars on testing to make sure busting my head open like that didn't cause serious damage. Because I was having "episodes" that made me unfit to drive.

Fortunately it's over, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna repeat it.

All you said was you had a concussion. Not that it took you out of work for two months.

There's a difference.

And having had a concussion, I know the difference.

So what.

I've got friends that have been in similar situations as well. Head injuries that caused life changing habits.

But they still don't let it stop them.

They just don't take sticks to the head any more.

Too many drivers curbing the trailers.. eventually the whole chassis twists on the frame rails. Sliding tandems has been and always will be a problem.

If you get a brand new trailer and you get to stick with it 24/7, you might stand a chance

The chassis binds on the frame rails. Always good to have a piece of metal that looks just like the pin you are trying to move and a 4lb sledge hammer or so

If you have a truckdriver that runs with you all the time, you can help eachother slide the tandems... a lot of in and out.. wiggling the tandems around a bit to loosen each pin.

If you dont have a hand valve, its even more difficult because then you have to pull your emergency valve and that tension just transfers to the driveline

Best bet is to measure your pin setting and learn how to load your trailer no matter what you have on... of course, only in a "Perfect world"

I havent had to slide my tandems in forever, but I also haul a split axle where it's nearly impossible to be overweight. Also have an air gauge in the tractor and on the trailer... can't really go wrong.... in my perfect little world...

I pull a trailer that was made in 1985 also. The tandems were torn off at one time. We repaired them and it is probably the easiest trailer we have to slide the tandems on... crazeee ... yeah...

BTW I busted my head open, had to get staples in my scalp at the nearest ER, got a taxi back to my truck, and still delivered the load on time from being "too timid."
Damn rockstar truckdrivers anyway.... frickin Hollywood trucker celebs.....

fo sho... ten ten my C.B friend

I was picking up a low-dropped trailer at Swift/JBS in Worthington, MN once.

I got tired of spinning it in low range endlessly with no progress so I put it in high range and put all my strength into it.

Snapped the crossover pipe.

Somehow there was some kind of recoil that spun the crank handle around backwards and it smashed the top of my head.

I went in to get the bills & they told me I was covered in blood.

Hot day, I thought it was sweat.

Got back in the truck and headed down the road. Took a "selfie" before "selfies" had a name, and sent it to my sister just to mess with her.

She called my mom, who called me,.... & threatened to call the Minnesota state police to find my truck and pull me over if I didn't go to an ER.

Moms... . :coocoo:

So,... I called a cab from the little truck stop in Fairmont, MN to take me to the hospital and I got 5 staples.

No concussion or seizures though...

However the 37 yr old woman who is currently sitting behind me b****ing because I'm still awake has had epilepsy ever since her evil psychotic step-mom hit her in the head with a cast iron skillet when she was 15 to punish her for losing her virginity... to me.

Yesterday I posted all the pictures from a camping trip on Facebook and that old hag commented & said "Where's my daughter?". I wanted to say "She was at home sleeping because the residual effects of an incident with a cast iron skillet left her with a headache"..
