What needs to be done to attract more women drivers to the industry?

Go back and read what I've said.

Corporate companies with brand new warrantied trucks are also a completely different animal from the mom and pop operation with old equipment.

We can't touch the truck, but we can fix trailers. That's where our problems are anyway. 2016 trucks don't tend to have can't-get-home issues. Glitches, absolutely, but rarely anything crippling.

The 2013 ProStar I drive more often than anything has more serious problems but nothing a battery disconnect won't reset. It's on its way out anyway once we get some more mileage on it.
You drive a Prostar... and admit it?:rolllaugh3:

Just kiddin... got nuttin but love for ya bustah.....

Wouldnt it almost be ironic getting banned from a truckers forum? That's like taking someone's C.B away for cussing......
Not really ironic.

I got banned from the "Truckers are bored" Facebook group today because some dumb broad with a ban button thought this picture was offensive to the victims in France.

And I challenged her to explain exactly how it mocks the victims rather than the idiot politicians who use tragedies to push their agenda, using logic and rational thought.

Apparently she couldn't. ;)

Women on average have less upper body strength. For some, it would require more effort to climb up into the cab. Especially the ones with 4 foot wide asses.

Therefore the fact that trucks don't have power lifts on the sides is SEXIST!

No, seriously, I've actually heard feminists attempt to make that argument.

Excellent point @Duck....I think the real question should be is how can the industry attract more "attractive" women

This thread reminds me local drivers here for fedex, ups and yrc along with dock workers and pkg handlers, not one female doing any of those jobs here that I have ever seen.

I've never seen a UPS driver pick up anything. Not even a pen they dropped.
Actually I'm talking about the ones that deliver to homes. Those drivers work hard they must do a minimum of 75 stops a day and you better learn your route within two days.YRC is always looking for city drivers/dock workers very physically demanding FedEx UPS and YRC.

Yeah, in the Class A division...

"Buster Brown" drivers are so full of themselves with their little buster brown shorts, pens, shirts, hats, clip boards.... attitudes... as if

I don't care what they pay, you ain't paintin' me all brown just for an ugly truck and ugly clothes

They remind me of what Viking used to be. There was a shit load of them at one time. Di Salvo, Viking, UPS... so many. Just drop and hook, get a ride straight to a motel, dont even detach your pull-trailer

Get a ride back to the truck, run your 8 hours and then go home

Most of those companies are history. Ancient history. Union Companies.. far and few between.

Can't believe drivers used to get on a waiting list for Buster Brown, and then start on the dock and work their way "up"

Yeah I'm not into dock work just to maybe get a driving job. I left warehousing to drive. I didn't leave warehousing to warehouse with a CDL in my pocket.
