Regarding the 'Cab Pwr" outlet on the outside under the sleeper: Can you maintain a charge on the batteries or is this just for electrical pwr inside the cab? TIA

I can’t say for sure, but I would think it does.

Would you be able to get a volt meter on the batteries to verify it while plugged in?

Couple Volvo owners here, not sure if they are set up the same as you.

It depends on how the truck is set up.

In or around 2010 I was assigned a Volvo that had a receptacle on the outside below the sleeper. Open the little flapper lid and there were male prongs in there so you can plug the female end of an extension cord in.

The only thing it did was provide shore power to an outlet in the sleeper. There was a different plug in receptacle further forward on the truck, below the drivers door I think, where you could plug in a cord for the block heater.

There was no onboard charger. But that's just how the company ordered that particular batch of trucks.

Depends...

Most cases it just makes the outlets inside hot with and extension cord to the house. I keep my batteries charged with a 2/10/50 battery charger hooked up to the connectors for my inverter.

should I replace the tripac inverter with a freedom HT charger/inverter, then it would do both.

Found out truck owner installed invertor (about $200.00) himself, doubtful it has a built-in charger.
