Quack 20

Funny. I can't hear what most people say but , If the recording of music is off by a bit it drives me insane.

As far as size and Durability, I wonder why we are still getting movies on DVD. I would have thought we would be buying movies on a memory stick type thing.

I am sure movies on some type of digital card are in the works, So we can toss out our DVD/Blu Ray players and go run buy the latest new thing.
the memory stick thingy is comming give it time as blu ray is already outdated

It's going to be DVD for a long long time. Just look at the shelves in Walmart and other stores. Blue Ray didn't really catch on. People don't want to replace their 1,000 DVD collection. There's a point where you just can't tell the difference. We can only see and hear so much

I agree. I have a bluray player but I rarely buy Bluray discs. I got the Bluray Player because it plays DVDs Bluray and and also has Netflicks built in with some other stuff. Like MLB, NHL. Thing that lets me watch the games I missed.

Agree. A DVD (plastic and foil, I think) is pretty cheap. It gets mechanically stamped, boxed, wrapped, and shipped.

To produce memory stick movies, each blank chip would have to be permanently connected to a USB interface (or other way of connecting to your computer/player), electronically programmed with the show, encrypted, electronically locked, boxed, wrapped, and shipped.

This would be time consuming for the DVD manufacturers, and would cost them a lot more money than to keep using the existing low-tech solution that is a DVD.

I have a 60" plasma at home with surround sound and it doesn't take too long before my brain is fried. I have a 32" flat screen in my truck and actually like watching that better.

Even if they did come out with memory sticks the box would be as big as a DVD case or bigger. Sort of like getting an extra large bag of potato chips only to find out it's only 1/8th full.

Tonight my grandma seemed perfectly normal except she couldn't talk or write. She can read though. She was talking and her facial expressions were the same as ever, except the words were just babbling. The neurosurgeon came in to check on her & I asked him how he can tell if a patient's incoherent speech is a neuro problem or if the patient is just pentacostal. He didn't answer. He just got a smirk on his face. I hope he's not pentacostal.

She was talking her head off & it was mostly gibberish but every once in a while she'll say something completely coherent.

When we first got there tonight she was fussy & speaking gibberish. She said "tee tee tee" while looking up at the TV so I turned it on & Jeopardy was on. She said "jep..ar..dee" a couple of times. After a while she said "OPERA" really loud & clear. I looked up at the TV right as somebody pushed the button & said "What is opera?" and Alex Trebek said it was correct. Then during a commercial she pointed at the TV and said "Monk". It was a commercial for the show "Monk".

A little while later a nurse came in & said "I need to draw some blood is that ok?" Grandma said "NO" and smiled.

Then she noticed Mrs. Duck's necklace with a cross on it & she said something I didn't hear, but Mrs. Duck said it sounded like "Christian". So she pulled the cross out & showed it to her & Grandma said "Ohhhh, .... spurty!". She has never said "pretty" in her entire life. It's always been "purty", so "spurty" might've been "it's purty".

I showed her a piece of paper that had my sister's name on it & her phone number & said "Who's number is that?" and she said my sister's name. So she can read. I handed her a pen & asked her to write her name but she wasn't holding the pen correctly & it just made a scribble. I tried putting the pen in her hand correctly but she was still making writing motions with her hand so I gave up.

She has a feeding tube going into her nose because she can't swallow. A nurse was using a big syringe to push what looked like baby formula into the tube & she said "We need to fatten you up" and Grandma laughed.

So there is clear evidence of comprehension. The neurosurgeon said she's doing better than he ever expected & said she might even make a full recovery.

Sounds like some good news. Doc says she might make a full recovery, and she is able to speak in tongues. That's like a double win....

And stop making fun of Pentecostals, I are one. :)

Good, Good. Sounds like she is doing ok considering.
