Nevermind. I researched the 395 LHS. Its a steer that looks nothing like these so they're just well dressed recaps. Probably the same dingaling tread wrapped around it as the rest. They'll blow too.

For a while there 99% of our chassis had fresh virgin radials whether they were factory new or refurbished to new.

It seems like we've reached the timeline where there have been enough replacements so tire reliability is back to square one.

Much to my surprise they're Goodyears. Usually you get whatever variant of Linglong Dingdong on a rusty wheel. Not saying these are top line GY but still (I don't know anything about them).

They even brought out the torque wrench.

How my day started. I haven't found where its going yet but on the day cab it turned out to be the EGR cooler when it seemed to just disappear. Its not in my oil, it never overheated, its not on the ground, and its not anything obvious like a hose. I'm not even gonna fug with it. It's going to the shop.

I had my first suspicions about a week ago when I had to add about 1/3 gallon. Today it took 1.5.

If it really is the EGR cooler it would explain the roughness under load lately. Day cab did the same thing.

Because it hasn't leaked ALL of the coolant out yet.

It's under pressure simply because it's being circulated through all the passages in the block, through the thermostat, the radiator, etc. It takes pressure to push it through everywhere it's gotta go, fast enough to cool a hot engine. That's what the water pump does.

Even when the engine hasn't even warmed up yet.

Accidentally poured a couple gallons of diesel into my gas lawn mower this evening.

I bought a bunch of 2 gallon red containers a while ago and labeled one with a sharpie for diesel for fuel filter changes and whatnot.

But I made the fatal mistake of parking it with all the other gas cans. It was a long time ago and I've been using a bigger yellow diesel can for filter changes since then.

So I grabbed the can without a second thought and dumped it in.

Realized my mistake when it abruptly shut off.

I siphoned the tank out and disconnected the lines to drain the residuals and it ran for a bit then shut off then ran again then shut off again then ran enough to park it back in the trailer under full choke.

I'm thinking and hoping I can simply replace the inline fuel filter and be good to go again.

Just keep restarting it and running it on choke until it gets over it's little hissy fit.
Changing the filter might speed things up.

Good thing you didn't fk up the other way & put gas in a diesel. Never done it but I hear a cylinder head will knock a satellite out of orbit.

Lol. That's what I ended up doing. There's a lawn mower shop around the corner so I grabbed a new filter and put it on. Worked fine after it spat out the residuals.

Got the truck all cleaned out and dropped off at the chassis shop.

Between them, the dealer, and myself we concluded the leak isnt bad enough to go to the dealer first and the dealer is less equipped and more expensive for kingpins. If I forego the chassis shop and need them anyway, it'll be another month before I can get in. And that'll be past my inspection due date.

Dealer isn't as backed up and said just bring it down as soon as the chassis shop is done with it and they'll get on it.

So yeah I'll probably be down for a week or two again but it should be squared away for a pretty good stretch after that.

We have freight to run. Won't be too hard to make up for it. I unfortunately had to miss out on a bunch just this past week but I'm not willing to kill my truck for short term gains.

Dealer is gonna be looking at the coolant leak as well as the roughness under turbo spool that I've been experiencing. I don't know if it's in need of a valve adjustment or what but they'll figure it out better than I can.

Went on Amazon and ordered a 3 pack of generic fuel filters and one OEM fuel filter for the mower

My thought process is change them out early and often with the generics until I feel like enough residual diesel is gone to put the OEM filter on. It's an easy job to swap them out and the filter is located where I can see it while in the seat.

I lied it was a 4 pack of generic filters. They showed up yesterday. Came with 4 compression hose clamps. At 15 bucks they're a screaming deal vs OEM at 12 bucks per.

Wasn't even the best deal either. After I ordered Amazon started showing me 8 packs for that same 15 bucks.

I don't think I'll ever need an 8 pack though because I was on the factory filter before this diesel stupidity. And it's been over 7 years since I brought it home. (Factual I stil have a picture of it brand new still strapped to my trailer when I brought it home.)
