Motor Carrier EC's Going For It

Prime and UPS and some others put reinforced dry vans on flat rail cars too.

If you gotta go really far and time don't matter, that's the way to run it. Saves you a ton of money.

ELD making people run legit probably boosts rail even higher since they can't get as far as fast as they used to.
I don't understand why Ships didn't adopt to the 53 Footer containers..

Back at the Grain Elevators Loaded 40s and 20 cubes for "Export"..

Hadda drive em down to the Railyards in Chicago go on a train to the West Coast and bring back an Empty to reload for next morning

More bang for the buck on a 53 footer

Because 20 and 40 are easier to deal with when loading ave shipping around other countries. 53’s are odd

Because, Europe is very old and built a long time ago before trucks.
Their streets are very narrow, hence the need to still have COE trucks and shorter trailers. A 53ft trailer would not end well over there in most places. Like knocking over the tower of Pisa.

You won’t get any more grain on a 53 than you can a 40. Likely you’ll get less.

I don't see how..

We scaled out..

If ya were heavy ya took the Tollway down and it was Your "Fault" if ya ever crossed a Weigh Station because they had a Map with each one "Marked" ..

You paid the ticket if you were that stupid

Vice Versa if ADM Milling rejected our wheat ya got off at Grand Ave 132 and US 45 back up because you were still LOADED

I seriously need you to explain that to me.

Are you talking about the 80k gross limit and the extra weight of the longer trailer?
Grain will max out weight long before it cubes out. A 53 weighs more than a 40 therefore it will take less grain to max a 53 out than it would a 40. 53’s are about cubic feet. That actually hurts you on heavy products.

Dispatcher asked me about my truck because apparently he keeps getting asked.

So I texted him a couple pics.
I think that is a good thing!

Like when a guy pulls into the yard with a Cab-over and there are like 4-5 drivers full of questions about the truck.

Ya, I am one of those guys. What year is it?
What kind of engine?

If I saw a Ford. L9000. I would have to talk to the driver about it.

Random guy at the rail was all "is that yours? Damn what's in it?"

I'm all "my hopes and dreams, bro. My hopes and dreams. JK it's an 8 speed."

I think I'll mix it up and be like "well...an impact gun, sockets, my lunch, and a change of underwear."
