What scares you, be honest here, in anything, not just trucking

This is amazing.....scared of spider, earthquake, bears, ect......yet you walk among the most deadly of all each and everyday. Humans you never know what there going to do. Unpredictable, unreliable, unstable, helpless, and any thing else that can be added. Now mind ya not scaed of humans....can smash a spider, chase off a bear, pick up a snake with PvP pipe that been creating chasios throw it butt in a barrel to cool off after a hussy fit. Yet you trust humans just amazing.

Though I did have one dark early morning driving experience during the winter.
A idiot OTR driving too fast for conditions(I'd roughly say 20MPH too fast for conditions, just guessing) during a snow storm, wind direction perfect to complete a perfect white out for a long time in a area where road curves on the Hwy. Hwy banks are not gradual sloped, so fighting it would mean a tipped truck (which I've seen plenty of stupid OTR tipped trucks in the area !)
Me being fully loaded (105K) & seeing a mile marker at the last second, well lets go for a ride an hope for the best ! an drove straight into the ditch because I knew I'd tip it if I fought it.
Drove into the ditch, didn't hit anything (except the mile marker) still had speed going through the snow & lockers, drove back up onto the Hwy & made my run.

Years ago we had a drunk driver almost run a cop off the road, only to be in a hurry for another call (so the story says)
then (drunk) head-on collision with our night driver on Hwy, drunk was ripped to pieces & our truck came to a stop like 50 yards into the field (some say, I wasn't there for clean up)

Night driving is the worst & so is Friday through Monday.
Your normal Joe has that time off to party, plus around holidays is also bad. Heck come December the whole month of weekends is a watch out for drunks or idiots on the road (more than usual) becuease of holiday parties.

Spiders don't bother me but one time it was early morning and dark and I had to go the shed to get something and just as I walked in the shed I felt the spider web wrap around my face. That's a nasty feeling.
Then I had wonder if the spider was on my head somewhere.

I knew a guy that was scared of the dark. Grown man. I had no idea of this and once I was delivering to the Lowes in Hagerstown early one morning (it was dark) and he was there taking his straps off. I came around from the trailer and said "Hey" and man he all but jumped outta his skin. I kinda felt bad but still managed to laugh and point at him. :biglaugh:

This ain't no bullshit drivah!

So my roommate in the barracks in Korea comes back from town four sheets to the wind one night. We only had exhaust fans to cool the rooms in warm weather, so being totally plastered, decides to turn the fan off.

Now Korea has all kinds of nasty critters running around, and the hurricane flow from the fan kept whatever was out from crawlin' in.

I wake up in the morning, roll over, and I'm looking at a spider web running from the foot of my bunk to the head about a foot and a half above me. Right in the middle there's this spider about three inches in diameter...

:eek-64:

...didn't have no little girls around ta smush it for me!

:biglaugh:

That's different.

Speaking of spider webs. I walked into one because apparently they saw the Chevy badge and decide it wasn't going anywhere. So they built one between my truck and my house. It was only there overnight.

That spider figured they had you trapped and was just waiting for the chance to attack. :D

I usually throw shoes at it, screaming. If I think it doesn’t see me, I will tip toe up behind it and Smash it with a shoe hard enough to break drywall.

I wasn’t scared of them when I was a kid. I used to catch tarantulas with my hands and chase my mom with them because she was terrified of spiders.

Can’t really remember being scared of them until after my mom died. Maybe she passed the fear along to me as a way to finally get even.

I’m definitely one who has always been arachnophobic.
