What’s been the highlight of your career

We often talk about the bad parts of this job of which there are many. But we have to acknowledge there are goods as well such as the many places we go which most people never see.

My question to you is as you look back on your long career on the road what moment sticks out to you as the biggest highlight?

For me it would have to be about 15 years ago I’m on I-10 close to Sealy and a car full of cute young ladies pulls up along me, now I’d been flashed before and I was hoping it was about to happen again, but instead the cutest one of them all in the backseat holds up a piece of paper and written in big fonts it says Call Me with her phone number. I grab my pen write it down and call her a few days later. Turns out she did it on a dare from her friends and we ended up having the best kind of casual physical relationship a guy could ever ask for.

So what’s been the highlight of your career ?

Following a long long dream of getting my own authority.

I reflect back on my life and there’s a lot of goals I’d accomplished that I set all the way back into high school. From job to hobbies to family.

Not sure how many people can say they’ve done that.

Trucking with my old man. Running the front door or the back. Either one was cool. I wanted to be a trucker from the very first time he brought a truck home in the early 80’s.

Same here except it was really only from Carlisle to Shippensburg because we were with two different companies running completely different routes for completely different customers and just happened to cross.

Never did it before and it never happened since, and it won't because he retired a few years ago.

listening to all the BS from truckers, and avoiding the truck stop counter and cb radio Rambo's, Casanova's, and former Navy Seals, Rangers, Green Berets, Special Forces.

never had i had heard such mundane, insipid, BS talk on a continual basis.

So far I've heard 73 drivers claim to be the one who took out Bin Laden.

And one was humble enough to admit he only helped clear the room.

That's where I met my wife. We both decided to only have one daughter but believe me we raised literally hundreds of kids over those years.

I still remember some of the more peaceful routes where I had a University run "hauling" college kids to a from a park-n-ride.

Or the chartered runs to the Zoo etc, where the driver gets a free admittance pass.

a few years ago I did some power only milk runs for food lion.6 nights a week,for 5 months straight
I grossed over 100,000 and paid off my house 7 years early..I never thought I would live to see it paid off.,I owed around 35,000 on it then.Since then,it has been nickels and dimes,the usual stuff

Just biding my days until the Magic Age of 66& a 1/2

Then I'm gonna sign up for Social Security and Medicare

And I can just get some stupid part time job bagging groceries for my screw away cash.
