Things ain't right here at the trailer park lately

....Call a officer to your place....

What's wrong with just talking to the neighbor? Why do the cops have to be involved?

It's dog shit, for fuck's sake. Cops got nothing better to do than deal with dog shit because neighbors are afraid to talk to each other?

The thing about trailer parks, at least the ones around here, is that most of the residents are young people in their 20's with small children.

This one makes me nervous:

2015-07-04 19.47.24.webp

Rt 50 is 4 lanes, 55 mph. Sycamore is 25 mph past the trailers & is clearly posted "No trucks", "7 tons" and "Slow - Children Playing". It's posted where you can clearly see it before committing to the turn.

All the children play in the lawn at that farmhouse across the street. There's always chalk drawings on Sycamore because little girls do their hopscotch stuff in the street. The only traffic on that street is the people who live in that little trailer park.

A couple years ago there was an incident, a car went flying through there on Sycamore & almost hit a little girl. Her dad saw it, hopped in his pickup, chased him down and attacked him at the next intersection to the south. Good.

A few weeks ago I was going south on Rt 50 taking Mrs Duck to the ER & there was a Swift truck ahead of me. Swift slowed down to maybe 35 mph & whipped that turn onto Sycamore in broad daylight with children playing next to one of the trailers. If I wasn't headed to the ER I would've followed him, waited til I was past the trailers and floored it to catch up & get a picture of his unit number & then beat him to the gate at the Swift terminal 2 miles from there where I assume he was headed.

It certainly pissed me off.

I figured you be coming along to jump on this....What took you so long???

1.It is pretty clear the neighbor has no love for his pet (reason let's the pet run lose everywhere) and pet are like children without supervision anything can happen to them.
2. Has no respect for neighbor or the neighbors yard. (Would never happen dog dung if he did have respect).
3. Officers know how to defuse a situation when it gets out of hand. If the neighbor is required to clean up his dogs mess just once....That person might learn some responsibility and respect for others....especially if he written a ticket for dog at large.
4. What happens should this dog decide to turn on a small child???Or someone who is elderly??? All because it is allowed to run lose to do as it pleases. Bet a officer would be call PDQ.
5. Cops are their to protect and serve no matter what the problem.

The O/P didn't say the dog is running loose all over the neighborhood. This is an assumption on your part.

2. Has no respect for neighbor or the neighbors yard. (Would never happen dog dung if he did have respect).
Some people have no concept of boundaries unless somebody says something. Common sense isn't as common as some of us would like.

3. Officers know how to defuse a situation when it gets out of hand. If the neighbor is required to clean up his dogs mess just once....That person might learn some responsibility and respect for others....especially if he written a ticket for dog at large.
Near as I can tell, there's no "situation" to diffuse. You have one guy who doesn't like his neighbor's dog crapping in his yard, in a trailer park. You have another guy who probably thinks it's okay because it's a trailer park and nobody has asked him to stop letting his dog crap outside the boundaries of the tiny little piece of ground he's renting. I'd be willing to bet, if the one guy politely said something to the other, there might be a resolution without starting a "situation."

4. What happens should this dog decide to turn on a small child???Or someone who is elderly??? All because it is allowed to run lose to do as it pleases. Bet a officer would be call PDQ.
Again, you're making an assumption without any information. You own a dog. Just because she might get loose of you doesn't automatically mean she's going to attack a chiild or elder. But that's not what the O/P said. He said the dog craps in his yard. He said nothing about the temperament of the animal, or (repeating myself) whether it is roaming the neighborhood unsupervised. If it was, he probably would have said so.

5. Cops are their to protect and serve no matter what the problem.
That's the theory, anyway. The Supreme Court, however, has said the police have no Constitutional duty to protect or serve...and to be brutally honest, I wouldn't trust them to. I've been paying attention to the news in the past five years and have come to a different conclusion.
..................

A very good way to make an enemy of your neighbor is to call the cops on him for dog shit. It's a fast track to the start of a problem where there wouldn't have been one if you had simply had a conversation with your neighbor yourself.

The guy might be a skinny hippie type with a crappy old school bus (or whatever) but he hasn't proven himself to be either dangerous or unfriendly. He has merely proven himself to be a dummy.

Dummies shouldn't be feared. Often, they can make good (and fun) friends. But by calling the cops over something so insignificant as dog shit, the caller will ensure that will never happen. The guy with a reputation as a cop caller usually doesn't have a lot of friends in the neighborhood, either.

Make a habit of calling the cops over stuff like that and pretty soon, the cops will get tired of messing with you, too. They really do have better things to do than referee a squabble (that doesn't exist at the moment) over dog shit. While they're handling a dog shit complaint, somebody else is assaulting someone, committing armed robbery, driving drunk or breaking into someone else's house. Meanwhile, their already limited resources are tied up handling something that could have been far more peacefully dealt with by the guy with the initial complaint.

See, one of the biggest problems with today's society is we're so afraid of each other. Communities do not exist anymore because we fear whoever is different from ourselves. I would first suggest the O/P attempt to start building a community by talking to his neighbor, rather than automatically assume there will be trouble where there isn't any at the moment.

It all goes back to: "Don't start none, won't be none."

What a concept.

If the dog is dumping in his yard....The dog is running loose...No assumptions to that one!!!!!!!!!!!!

Common sense when you rent a space in a trailer park it is yours as long as you pay the rent not everyone else.
What you written is almost like saying I rented the motel room but I share my bed with the man upstairs REALLY
INJUN Where is that common sense thinking!

You just stamped your approval on allowing a dog to roam.

No one deserves a disrespectful neighbor like this period! Really Injun would you like to clean up your neighbor dog dung daily.

Dog catchers and police department at least here are all in one department.

ASSUMING THERE BE TROUBLE...that started the minute he turned the dog lose on the Park people period.

Injun this statement of yours tells me your afraid to stand up for your own rights.

Let me tell you about Justice....My daughter is grown woman now....Many years ago when my daughter was two years old a man who my late husband worked with took it upon himself to take my daughter out of the yard and in his car without permission. I did not call the cops I took matters into my own hands and chased the man at high speeds with my car.I knew time was important and I stayed right on this man and his car....Nothing and I mean nothing was able to stop me. After honking my horn and trying to force him to stop his car....He finally pulled over and stopped. Now I not going to tell you what I did to that man for this....but I sure tell you it was not pretty cause I was mad past the bones. Yes I got my daughter back safe and sound.....The man was a proved abuser, his wife had filed on him many times for the many beating she took from him....Six months after my encounter..... His wife blowed his head off with a shot gun after he tried to kill her. Her injuries proved beyond a shadow of a doubt of his intentions....No charges ever filed against her for protecting herself and her children from him.

He got between a mama bear & her cub. He was lucky you didn't rip him to pieces.

If you had simply called the cops, you'd have probably never seen her again.

My little baby was in the back seat of his car....I simply say it this way...You ever see a woman with a claw crow bar in her hands and she not interested in doing no talking of no kind....And she rolled up her sleeves to take care of business....and the man had no where to run to cause he was pinned down with broken glass in his eyes and face from the car window and once that woman got that door open it was on a fight to the death. Very little of him left and car was destroyed....No cop to be found but I was not interested in finding a cop either speeds of 80 to 90 weaving in and out of traffic and I knew he have to stop sometime and time was running in my case and I knew it. Of all the people who passed this no one stopped to investigate nor did anyone make a call for help.Simple said you just do not mess with what belongs to me MY BABIES who are both grown adults now. I have thanked God many times for theses children of mine.A moma bear add a bit of cougar to that one.

So.. You've never seen a dog on a leash crap where it isn't supposed to, and the owner not pick up the turd?

Crapping and roaming are two entirely different things.

If people are wandering through the O/P's space, it's probably because there are no fences. Fences may be against trailer court policy. If that's the case, there may be no delineation of where one space stops and the next starts.

Is it rude to allow an animal to leave feces and not pick it up? Sure, it is. But go to any rest area where it is clearly posted "no pets" and watch how many people walk their leashed dogs in those posted areas, allow them to poop and then simply walk away. Viscious dog? Who knows? Roaming? of course not.

But that wasn't the main point of my post anyway.

My main point was, There's no reason to involve a cop until there is an actual problem...which means talking to the neighbor first. Second, involve trailer court management if they're worth a dang. If it escalates into a problem, then get the legal system involved.

Don't jump to cop calling before giving the guy a chance.

You don't happened to have owned a skunk in the past, have you?

Talking to my neighbor myself does not show fear for standing up for my rights. It shows I'm not afraid of my neighbor to the point of hiding behind somebody else's gun and badge.

Interestingly enough, I live in a community, where we talk to each other. One night, my neighbor's dog was lying in the middle of the street barking at nothing for an hour. I was engrossed in a TV show, so didn't realize that was what was going on. When I did figure it out, I went out to the street, called the dog over and put him back in his own yard. I talked to my neighbor about it the following day. We had a good laugh over it and they have kept him in the yard since. He had made himself an escape route, which they found and fixed.

I didn't need to call the cops to preserve my right to peace and quiet. I'm not a coward who calls cops for stupid little nonsense.

After my dad passed away I convinced my mother to move to Florida into an over 55 community. Here's a pic of her house. She loved it. Bought it for around $20,000. Lots of rules but any normal person could live by them. Some of the residents were funny. They would down right steal stuff from other peoples lawns and put them in their lawn.

When I went down to find a place for her I liked this one. If was fully furnished with everything. I asked if there was a place that would buy or take everything. They told me to put anything I didn't want out on the front lawn. I called the local high school and spoke to the football coach and got 4 kids to come over for $100 each. Done that many times.

By the end of the next day EVERYTHING was gone! Had all sorts of work done inside and out. New furniture, appliances and much more. Easy when it's not your money your spending!

Word got around that she had money. When she finally moved down there some guy showed up in a van with one of those golf carts to try and sell her. She was all excited. He took her for a ride and showed her how to drive it. Same as car. She immediately drove off the road into the woods and crashed.

But I'll stick with "mama bear" because "cougar" has an entirely different meaning when applied to a woman your age. ;)

Well gal all I got to do is finish this conversation with...I sure hope you never need a cop!

No able bodied person who exercises their 2nd amendment rights will ever truly "need" a cop.

The only circumstance I can think of for actually "needing" a cop, would be to get a police report after an accident for insurance purposes and so you don't get charged with "leaving the scene".

In actual life & death emergencies, they're pretty much useless. They show up afterwards to take pictures, make chalk outlines and ask "what was he wearing?". They're for catching the bad guys after the crime, ... not stopping the crime in progress.

I stand on my 2nd amendment....The right to keep and bear arms.
Now there has been at least wise in my wide general area where a cop showed up to help out.
Removal of people from cars off the Hwy...into patrol car...to motel in blizzard conditions to keep people from freezing to death.
Removal of children and women in dangerous situations.Domestic
One that is really hard on them is notification of next of kin in a death. Knocking on that family door.
What is heartbreaking is when the officer knows the family on a personal bases.
Patrol of schools and tracking sex offenders and where they live and activities.
But you got to keep in mind small places have officers more in tune with the community lifestyles than larger cities have Just my opinion is all. As in any profession there is the good and the bad in people in general and in every profession.

Well gal all I got to do is finish this conversation with...I sure hope you never need a cop!
If I ever need a cop, I won't be calling a cop.

Nobody "needs" a cop for dog shit if they have a spine and enough education and manners to knock on someone's door, introduce themselves and make a polite, reasonable request of another human being. The problem with most of us (and I'm just as guilty as anybody) is we are too quick to think the worst of someone if they're doing something we don't like, they don't look the way we think they should or they disagree with something we say. I will repeat: I'm just as guilty of this as anybody. However, I have made some really good friends over the years, by setting aside my knee-jerk judgments and actually talking to people.

Furthermore, it is not giving up rights to avoid calling law enforcement for dog shit.
