well interesting read here....as far as calling the cops for dog stuff, well if a dog poops in my yard, (well when i had one..Lol ) he had to either be brought there or was loose and wandered there to do his business....someone that has either brought their dog there or let it run loose to poop isnt likely to listen to you asking them to not let it happen...cuz they obviously dont care...as long as it isnt in their yard to have to deal with it.
we moved to a really nice apt complex last month...they have designated dog areas, they even provide a trash can and doggie bags...how many use them?? ha ,probably only us from the looks of it...there are A LOT if irresponsible pet owners..the last place we lived, the old lady across from us would walk her dogs all over, anywhere except near her place..WHY ? cuz she didnt pick up the crap...many a times. she would come to our space EVEN UNDER OUR DINING ROOM WINDOW and let her dogs crap.... now i dont know if calling a cop would resolve it...but talking to her and even reporting her to management certainly didnt....
i have had 2 diff dogs come after my dogs on 2 separate occasions (they werent on a leash and i was out walking my dogs ) and yes mine were on a leash..and talked to the person about having a leash law here etc, the one was super apologetic and it hasnt happended since, the other was a smart ass b*tch who waited til she was a ways from me to mouth off, then when i asked her what she said she didnt have the guts to repeat it...i was very nice and polite each time....

My neighbors (moved in a coupla years ago) have an old hound named Rocky.
Right after they moved in they would follow Rocky around and scold him for crossing the property line. I understand that they were trying to teach him the new boundaries but the first coupla times he wandered over without being noticed they'd act like it was a big deal.
I just told them not to worry about it.

If he were a threat to my grandkids it'd be a different story.
