The War Path

@Duck is quite right - filling in a wetland, even if its on your property, could cause legal entanglements you don't want. I doubt that planting some plants that thrive in a wetland would even be noticed.
There's a clump of woods 1/4 mi behind my house, next to the creek.

A few years ago someone put a bunch of little pink marker type flags all around it that said "Wetland delineation" on them.

No idea what that was about. They're long gone now, and nothing was ever dug up or bulldozed there.

Survey markers, I'd assume.

The swamp in my yard in not a natural one. The trashy family that had the place before me made it so they could go mudding in the back yard.

Still, it shows up on satellite for several years now...

Holy freaking hillbillies Batman!

You have no idea.

They had an auto shop in the back yard. There's tires and rims and stuff everywhere. I've done a TON of cleaning in the past 5 years I've had the place but I could go on much longer.

We actually pulled a straight 6 eminent block out of my Creek last year.

There's an entire front end to a 68 Camaro back there...

I've hauled a ton of stuff to the scrap yard NOT 3 MILES AWAY...which has me asking...why didn't they do that?

Trashy people...that's why.

When they hit the lottery that time they bulldozed the old house and built this new one, and you could tell they had no idea how to handle money. Least I was told they hit the lottery...recently someone mentioned they were meth enthusiasts...

Terrible paint...like a day glo green dining room...stupid design flaws, like light fixtures 18 inches apart...

The previous occupants of this place were oddballs too.

OK, where to start....

OK there was the "KKK" & "all n*'s must die" crap written all over the walls in the loft of the east barn. Fortunately it was only on some halfass installed styrofoam insulation and we pulled down all the stuff we could reach. Gravity, time, and wind took down the rest. The only writing that's still there just says "Halloween 1989 really kicked our asses".

:coocoo:

There's the old wooden chair in the third floor of the corn crib directly below a black store mannequin that was hanging from a noose.

The woman who lived here had mannequins all over the house. Every single one of them was wearing dresses that liked like something you'd see in the movie Titanic. :coocoo:

They cut out a structural beam in the east barn to make a big fancy house type staircase with a landing halfway up. As a result there are joints that came loose. Old school joints, like Lincoln log type stuff. I've got it secured with chains, load binders & a jack post to keep it from getting any worse.

There was a safe on the back porch. We had to get one of the sod farm guys to lift it out if there with a forklift like the one @Blood has. About a year later I decided to bust it open. I ripped the door open using a tree, some chains and a loaded truck. ;)

There was nothing in it except the head from a doll and a Kenny Rogers cassette that had the tape pulled out. :confused-96:

I've found lots of other weird stuff in the barns but all of lesser weirdness.

Oh and there are two underground concrete bunkers on the property. Both are empty except for cobwebs & dirt though.

No chainsaws and hockey masks, eh?
No hockey masks but I've got two chain saws.

The larger of the two dungeons is like the "it puts the lotion on it's skin" thing except it's probably possible to climb out of.

That's why I've never been in either one. They don't look easy to climb out of. If I threw a chair or something in there to stand on to get out, I'd never get the chair out... Unless I tied a rope to the chair first. But that would require finding a rope first.

I'm way too lazy for that. I mean, I know exactly where there is one, but it would require walking all the way to the barn and then all the way back.

I was over at the maid's house today and she gave me garlic seeds.

Good stuff descended from stuff her dad originally planted in the 1960's, not mutated Monsanto crap.

I'm gonna split it with @Blood cuz I'd like to see what he can do with them in his mad scientist laboratory.

You DO realize that I own half those seeds as per your statement above. right?
Therefore your spreading your seed around to @Injun , the postmaster, etc.
If I don't get 2 oz of seeds I'm going to be PISSED!

Don't be pinchin' my stash bro...
not cool!

First year [Martha Washington] asparagus bed started from seed with bell peppers {California Wonder, I think] growing in the interim. Asparagus takes 3-4 years to establish but can be harvested for 20-30 years.

Horseradish growing in 22.5 lopro wicking bed and doing very well.
The two other transplants from original aren't doing well with one potted and the other in a growbed.
Dunno whether the growbed plant may have bad companions or not, I keep forgetting to research it.

I thought you were allergic to everything except beef.
:D
Personally, I suspect your reaction to a lot of so-called fresh foods are more to do with pesticides, herbicides & insecticides than with the plants themselves...
but when I was heavily pimping the juice you were getting annoyed so I let it go.

I still think if you could go organic n local you'd be ok.
Paul Gautschi [of Back to Eden gardening fame] gives tours of his property in Washington's Olympic peninsula.
There are so many video's that I couldn't begin to find one a few I've seen where people with supposed allergic reactions ate things straight from the garden with no ill effects.

It's been 3 or 4 years since my wife started juicing and her allergies were getting progressively worse year by year.
On our vacation to Florida the year before she started juicing her skin was so effected that it looked like someone had laid into her with a hatchet tomahawk.

Since then only very minor flair-ups compared to previous.

That's a big part of the reason behind the gardening.
Her juicing and the results she's seen from it are nothing short of miraculous.
Organic, fresher & local simply has to be even better yet...
in case you forgot the story.
;)

Do you have apple trees?

Pear & lemon trees grow up here too. At least Lewis University has some growing, or did 30 years ago when the nuns used to let us swipe pears off them as kids.

On the 30th, we got .91 inch. Broke the record for one-day rainfall in Spokane. Shut up. It ain't Florida. I hate Florida.

Anyway, I was southbound on Browne, almost to the freeway. Had to go under the railroad bridge just south of Sprague and didn't realize how deep the water would be under there. I hit that huge puddle and sent water clear up to the roof of the underpass and an impressive wave out each side of the truck and trailer. The tsunami I accidentally created washed the wall on the other side of the walkway on the right like a pressure blaster.

There were several homeless people sleeping under the bridge on that walkway. I hit the brakes to stop making such a wave, but it was already too late. I'd already thoroughly douched four or five people. I think only the two on the south end of the walkway were saved. I felt awful about it.
