So, we are now the owners of a new hybrid Prius!

Takes for.e.ver.
i bet . try driving the 405:D:eek: going down it a 5 mph and there are days when everyone mashes the gas:stare1: and the traffic jams:D..but it's cool that most of my commute is a down hill commute so the trip computer bounces around all over the place. i love it when the car tells me i'm getting 200 mpg:D i wish don't i wish:D though the highest i got was 99.9 mpg going 32 mph around town so this thing as amazing on fuel savings

i'm sure if they made the prius out of carbon fiber it would do even better than it is not. but you got to think of price points since carbon fiber is not cheap:stare1:..
though the upgrades i would like to see for the I8 would be a convertible :D
the V6 engine instead of the 3 banger:( that comes from a mini cooper:eek:
and a bang and olufsen 2000 watt audio upgrade:D i have that upgrade in my X5 and it's amazing

i know on my I8 it's a 21/2 hours charge with the 240 volt wall charger. and the standard el cheapo POS charger 110 volt it's between 8-9 hours charge time. now if the car had DC charging it would be fully charged in 30 mins. or i can aggressively recharge the batteries by throwing it in sport mode and drive it like it stole it while doing things like coasting down hills and braking. i just coast down hills and let the car charge the batteries and i can have a full charge in 3 hourso_O. yes there's lots of different tech out there from veg oil to hydrogen but wheres the infrastructure to support them all wich keeps us on fosil fuels. and what about charge times for electric cars those would need to be speeded up before i bought one!! yea i was curious i took a tesla model s out for a spin and i drove it like a porche 911:stare1:. electric cars are fun to drive since there's no waiting for the engine to rev up to the rpm's needed there like rocketships since it's instant take off:D:eek:. i seen a model s peel the sides off a lambo that's sad:biglaugh:

Yes electric car have fun to drive only push the pedal and lets go , impressive acceleration .
I'am an Audi lowers but right now i like the design for citroen , the fabric quality equal the german car.
Witch engine do you have on your bmw ?

the engine comes from a mini cooper it's a 1.5 3 cylinder. the only VW id'e want is there diesels wich i don't know if there comming back over here. i like the new audi more so the one with the V8 diesel that one looks like fun but i doubt that we will see it in the states..
the I8 has had a lot of complaints on things as no lumbar support and no memory seating i find the seats comfy and i could drive it across the states without issue and all that extra crap makes a car heavy. yep electric cars are push and you go. though i havent used the launch control on my i8 yet that should be interesting:D:yahoo: i also have a ferrari 458 spyder and once i took it on the track i lost intrest in it once i drove it like it was ment to be driven:yahoo:

Not cheap car .The car cost 166 K in europe. After the scandal for WW and Audi don't affect the sale in EU .
Like the citroen to are expensive she cost 51 K .
For me 20 K inside a car is enough , i prefer buy a 2 or 3 year second hand than new car . Save money for the resale .

Hahaha no doubt. One of our mechanics lives somewhere near me and he put a little motor on a bicycle. Brilliant, IMHO.
I'm in the process of doing that now actually.

The project is for my dad but he can't do it himself and his ideas are stupid as hell like using fishing line for a drive belt, or using a 25 lb steel plate as a mounting bracket for a weed eater engine that weighs less than a gallon of milk. :coocoo:

So it's kind of stalled out pending resolution of ideological differences. o_O

Finally decided to look in, why the wheels on this thread was my question...

Would have looked in quicker if it was volt, or how bout tesla...!!

Interesting thing? The extra large owner of JCT, John Christner himself, rolls in a prius...Funny but not surprised as he is likely a man completely completely tired of fuel bills...

I do like the Lexus body kit for prius

I do like the stealth fighter body kits for em too

The car has a jake brake!

Sort of, anyway. Mainly for red light to red light driving, or a steep downgrade (all over the place where I live).

Rather than constantly using the brakes, you shift it from D to B, and whenever your foot comes off the throttle, a transmission brake engages, which also serves to charge the battery, just as the brakes do.

@Blood, definitely not an impulse buy. I did a bit of research on this car, and ran the numbers on cost of ownership. It's a 2015, so big markdown on price. Cheaper gas prices reduced the demand for economical cars.

Financing - 0%

My old truck provided more than 1/3 of the sticker price via trade. We have a new driver in our house now, and it was going to cost me an additional $3k or more to get the truck to the condition I wanted it to be in before becoming a daily driver again. (Needed tires, brakes, rotors, booster, and various other things due to massive off road abuse in the past).

Expedition is getting well under 15mpg where we live. It never sees the interstate, and rarely goes over 35mph. Constant stop and go in town. Dropping gas costs by 75%. This will save me over $150/month once prices climb back up close to the $3 mark.

In the end, money saved over a 5 year period virtually cancelled out the cost of buying the car. Gas savings alone almost make the payment. We would have just paid cash, but at 0% interest, what's he point? Oldest kid will need a car in a year or so, probably pay it off then.

Wife is far more confident driving it, as opposed to the Expedition, as is the oldest child, who got her permit in August when she turned 14.

I actually like the car. A little strange getting used to the engine shutting off all the time at stops, and taking off on battery power, but it drives really well. Plenty power, which was my only concern going in.
i hate having to haggle over the price first and then the intrest rate it's so draining LOL

Just owning one is a five point infraction.
i rather him buy the prius than something like a tesla since musk depends on tax payers handouts:eek:. and now he's saying that tesla's gonna need billions more of our money for a refresh and remodel. fuck him. ever notice that musk is moving to things like high speed by satellite and i'm talking about cable speeds but i'm sure that's all on tax payer money to
