So, we are now the owners of a new hybrid Prius!

Been putting the numbers together on the cost of the wife driving all over town in our expedition, and the cost of doing some much needed maintenance to my F-150 (tires, shocks, brakes, rotors, brake booster, windshield, and whatever else needs to be assessed due to much abuse in many deep mud holes).

In addition to that, it is a bit of a challenge for Maria to navigate the expedition around town. Parking is a pain, and at 4'10", seeing out of the expedition is a struggle.

We have looked at other cars in the past, but none of them seemed to be a good fit.

I showed her a picture of a Prius today, she liked it, so we decided to go test drive. They have a few 2015 models here, discounted and with 0% financing.

Arrived at the dealer, jumped in one of the 2015 models, and she loved it.

2 hours later, I am removing the toolbox from my truck and bringing the title to the Toyota dealership.

So now we have a hybrid Prius! I drove it to the store tonight for the first time and I was actually impressed.

She was wanting a SMART car, so this was a good compromise. I was never going to ride in a smart car.

Great color too, Radiant Ebony!

Congrats.
Liars figure and figures dont lie.
I had a nissan armada and traded it in for a 2016 VW passat 1.8 turbo and aint looked back since.
saving money on gas feels great. and having a new car feels even better.
Good choice and good luck to the your new ride.

What annoys me is people with plug-in electric or hybrid cars have this odd sense of entitlement. They think nothing of plugging their car in wherever they are without asking first. Saw a guy (money not a problem...he's a high-priced attorney) plug his car in at a church, ffs. Like it's the church's job to pay for his fuel.

i agree with everything that you said!!! i would goto one step further and say it's stealing. it's one thing to ask but just to go ahead and do it with out asking is just not right. i know on mine i can do a rapid charge on the battery charging it aggressively in sport mode and i can have a full charge in 3 hours. i can even tell the car to charge the battery and to hold that charge so i have a full battery for when i leave!! we have charging stations all over the place out here some are free and some you pay for but to use a private parties power without asking is just wrong:mad:

That was turning down the street to my house.
so does that thing have different driving profiles. for things like rapid battery charging and telling the car to hold that charge so you have a full battery for when you leave:confused-96:. i know on mine under the IDRIVE settings i can put the car into hold state of charge. i talked with someone this morning that said between the battery usage and fuel usage they were getting around 147 MPG'S

Exactly. When we got the Prius, we got it discounted and with zero percent financing because they were having trouble moving them due to the low fuel prices. People were buying the larger cars and SUV's.

As soon as the prices go back up, people will be trading in the SUV's and looking for better gas mileage. Dealers love this because people stick themselves with car payments for eternity, LOL.
yup people run out and buy big SUV'S when fuel prices are cheap then the cry when fuel goes up:D. i gotta love the ones that run out and buy the land rovers they cry about how bad maintance is on them:D:rolleyes:. i know since the bmw over flooded the market out here with the I8'S they can't move em and there giving em away!! i got mine way under 100k after a trade and dealer discount for paying cash:thumbsup:

yep, something I would never do on fuel cost alone. For me, it was a combination of things. Age of other vehicle, money needed to make it safe for a potential teenage driver (due to the abuse I sent my truck through), fuel cost, safety around town, and a few other things. zero percent financing tipped the scales though ;)
