i could see someone watching out the window, from the sleeper. great place to sit, if something came up and needed quick action!
i can see that also and they have an accident because there not able to react fast enough. or another biggie is they would have there face in there phones laptops or tablets not paying attni could see someone watching out the window, from the sleeper. great place to sit, if something came up and needed quick action!
i just do not see the validity of autonomous trucks. as it is now, we are not always paid what we are worth. so then, who gets to sit behind the wheel of such transportation to ensure there is a "guard on duty" and for what amount of money?i can see that also and they have an accident because there not able to react fast enough. or another biggie is they would have there face in there phones laptops or tablets not paying attn

we gotta use duck as the lab rat to test em to make sure they stopi could see someone watching out the window, from the sleeper. great place to sit, if something came up and needed quick action!

We shall get some. The Driver goes out and when he is back from gatehouse, the Truck drives itself to the Parking Location, drops the Trailer and parks. We also have WIFI-Tacho who sends from different WIFI-Connections (on Bridges or Side Panels of Motorway) to,well,we dont know where,....so freightliner has come out with a truck that drives itself, am I the only one that can see the problems with this??
just off the top of my head here are a few of the obvious lets see how many more the forum members can come up with.
1. I have yet to hear of a computer that NEVER breaks down add that with 80,000 lbs and that is a disaster waiting to happen add a hazmat load or an AAE load and now we are talking a MAJOR disaster,
2. we all know how secure communications are, let some 14 yo hacker get into the system say around Chicago, New York, La., ect and begin playing demolition derby, that should make world news.
3. now lets say that the computers are PERFECT,[lol] and the system can NEVER be hacked, [ROFLMAO]
then the obvious vulnerability will be the fact that ALL of these rolling time bombs will have a crash avoidance system so even if everything is prefect all a terrorists needs to do is pass one of these high tech PIECES of SH** slam on the brakes and watch as 80,0000 goes flying off the road taking everything along with it in its now uncontrolled path to ovoid the idiot.
there's the start what else can everyone come up with??
wait a minute Fred, how does the truck drop the trailer, unhook the electrical and air lines, and lower the landing gears? We shall get some. If you drive through Speed limited Roadwork Area it sends every Kilometer, otherwise just then and when. Seems it knows where Speed is limited.
ok, so the gears can be done by electronics/hydraulics, but the lines..?????We had already 20 Year ago Electro-Hydraulic Legs, but how to connect Air,-and Power Lines?

i just have no faith nor confidence in anything autonomous. because if it were so "perfect" why still the need for a person to be sitting at the controls? i'd nary put my life on the line for a human co-driver, nor a robotic/computerized one.
DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER...>!!!
well friend, Fred, as i always say, retirement is a VERY short ways for me. i don;t think i'll have to worry about being replaced. heck, if i were to be replaced today by my company for cheaper labor, more power to them i say.....!!Just give them some Time. They have in Germany already automatic Reading of Speed and Axle-Weight. You not even have to stay in one Lane. Fine is real Quick in the Post.
Yup! I have heard that in the auto manufacturing industry, It is the accountants that have to reign in the engineers.I wouldn't push the panic button just yet. 2017 was supposed to be quite the iconic year. Just a few years ago, we were promised by tech experts that flying cars, specifically the "skycar", would be popular by 2017. We were also told that affordable electric cars, with removable batteries, and battery-swapping stations at nearly every gas station would be in place, along with the complete infrastructure needed, by 2017. And lastly, we were told that civilian space flight would be so common that ticket prices would be down to $10,000 per passenger by 2017. Tech huts are so focused on the tech aspect , they overlook the finer details of new technology and the obstacles that have to be overcome to implement it on a mass scale.
CR England graduates.Who's gonna sit out the triangles when it's on the side of the road broke down?
Who's gonna operate the fire extinguisher when something catches on fire?
Who's gonna navigate it through an unexpected detour?
Long list of things that are going to present a problem, and I can just imagine how massive the lawsuit is going to be when one of these things malfunctions and kills somebody.
Laid-off SNI can hustlers.CR England graduates.
