self driving trucks

Trucks are becoming slightly popular for terrorists, which makes this thought some to really consider.
We need to trick Hollywood into making a movie about hundreds of drone trucks that get hacked and crashed into schools and day care centers.

Maybe tell them that Trump has half his money invested in drone trucks or something so they'll make sure to make the movie as scary as possible.

All the commercials to advertise the movie should be made to seem like real news footage.

If enough of the public are scared of drone trucks, the politicians will have to ban them in order to get re-elected.

And in case they don't, they can write mega-lawsuits into the script. Have like, billions of dollars in insurance claims and wrongful death suits against the trucking companies that own/operate them and the insurance companies that insure them.

If fear mongering is the only way to get something done these days, it's a viable option. It's how they passed the patriot act.

They kind of already made that movie.
MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!

People may have forgot.

I remember because AC/DC, who made who:thumbsup:

So, with all the hype, why don't we have self driving ****? Here are the CEOs and experts...

Didn't watch that, but 5G could provide the bandwidth needed to get vehicles talking to each other. That's a far more likely solution to self - driving than the current method of trying to analyze visual data. The analysis will still be needed, but networking eliminates much of the mundane tasks of tracking traffic and would free up processor power for tougher tasks.

So, one giant brain running thousands of vehicles remotely? I'd think that's highly unlikely.

Not that. I wasn't clear, each car would still keep track of vehicles, but that's a much less intensive task when the other vehicles can tell you their velocity vector and intentions rather than having to analyze the visual data from its cameras to determine that data.

That's not the problem... run the video. In an environment that the autonomous vehicle has to coexist with vehicles and pedestrians that aren't wired into "the rules," the unpredictable nature of their reactions must be taken into account. The algorithms can do that consistently yet. On the other side of the coin, do you expect that all non-autonomous vehicles will be banned from the roads by fiat?
