Patriciajnsn vs. Jason, Glenn, Mustang, et all...

There has been more misinterpretation than just her. I've noticed lots of people seem to skim through a post really fast, only reading every 7th word and then get it all screwed up when they reply.

If I remember it right, .. and it's been a LONG time, ... reading comprehension was something they taught in grade school. They'd have us read something and then ask us questions about what we read without letting us go back and use the material for reference.

I don't think grown adults on this forum are STUPID, or LACK reading comprehension skills, I just think they get lazy and speed-read through something and miss a key word here and there.

I'm not sure its just being lazy. The poor writing skills of some people make difficult to comprehend what they are saying. I know people are texting on their phone, and possibly doing it while driving; but if you want to be understood then you need to be carefull how you present it.

True. But sometimes when I try to explain something in enough detail and with enough clarity that it's understood properly, the forum won't let me post it because of the 5000 character limit.

I'm still thinking about making a "flame war" smiley to supplement the popcorn  smiley for when these things happen though.

you mention ppl only read 7 words or so,that's me and reason being is because the second I see bashing me that's all I need to read.I don't need to read the entire post to know what they mean.

Alot of us can be guilty of skimming a post and then commenting and not getting the whole jest of the post...It happens..I know I've done it..lol...

I won't mention any names but I was teasing someone about doing it last week..lol..

Funny, there was something in a video someone posted around here somewhere, about How To Hijack A Thread, that mentioned the first step was to "scan the post, and only read every 3rd or 5th word.

I find it interesting that the ones who exhibit the poor communication skills are the ones who take offense when others make a sincere attempt at understanding whatever it is they are trying to say. And they also seem to have no interest in learning to communicate better.

But we are just truck drivers, right?

And it has been said so often that truck drivers are just a bunch of social misfits with little or no education. So who am I to judge?

I too am nothing more than a truck driver. What do I know?

Learn to express yourself in a more condensed manner Mr. Duck! (How many words can a duck know anyway?)

Can't we all just... get along? wait... nope... yep. Uh, lemme re-think that and then I'll tell you why you're wrong.

Hold on, I get along with.... oh forget it.

Least we forget, a forum, like any community, has a past. In this past the members of the community have interacted and made lasting impressions as well as formed lasting opinions. Some are good, some are not so good. The reality of this emotional baggage is carried forward, and, no matter what the subject, when anyone you have a negative opinion of writes a post it tends to get picked apart, in your mind, on all levels. "They're use of punctuation is rotten." "Haven't they ever heard of spell check?" "Did they graduate from grade school?" "Why did they write about that? They know nothing about the subject." "What a stoopit comment." Add having a bad day to the mix and suddenly, before you even realize it, some of those negative thoughts have spilled into the response you just composed, and trust me, you can cut someone to the bone without ever outright insulting them in a "technical foul" sort of way.

So, if you've made your good impressions, and, the community continually reminds you of it, change your game or grow a thicker hide. But mostly, stop whining about your lot in life. It only makes you look worse.

(Notice: No names were mentioned in the above post to protect the guilty)
