Yeah, my dad is in assisted living. It's expensive.

I hear ya. My Dad should maybe be in assisted living but Mom chose to keep him home as long as possible.
He is getting worse and the family is recommending Mom put him in a home. She don't want to.

The family is no t the ones looking after him, Mom is. I told her she will know when the time comes.

I so want to move away from here. It is expensive and ghetto at the same time. But my life is on hold for now.

So we are on the same page.

...Women in particular trying to squeeze a 50" Butt into a 20" pair of Shorts / Jeans and Hubby trying to recoup his lost years with his Hawaiian Shirt not big enough to cover his Pot Belly....the list is endless...

Me old mum used to to say, "20 pounds of potatoes in a 5 pound sack."

i'd be (somewhat) looking toward a condo myself..no outdoor upkeep. even simple sweeping of the dirt, annoys me now.....as well as the broken booze bottles, fast food bags, and trash, and other drive-by litterings....

all that's fine and dandy. but what if you move next to a couple of little bastards that like playing ball ( noting wrong with that ) and they keep breaking your window or your sliding glass door!!! i bet you won't be to happy then!!! HOA'S have more power than you think!!! it seems that people that buy into this rubbish can't live without a parent figure telling em what to do and so it becomes you do it now!!! i am not!!! go to your room now!!! you can't make me!!!. it's like your living in middle class section 8 housing neighborhood.

After the dry Weekend I was hoping to Mow the Lawns and do a few other tasks this Morning...woke up at 6 am and checked outside...no rainfall overnight,the Dog was in his outdoor Kennel {normally he goes into the Workshop when it's raining} everything looked well as I sat down to have Breakfast...stepped outside for my 2 C's {Coffee n Ciggie} and the drops began to fall...sat under the Veranda with my Head in my Hands muttering Profanities to myself..."Mind if I join you"... looking up it was the Neighbour Denis who was over for His Daily Chat...both of us had our Gardening Clothes on as He had plans lined up also for the Garden...the next 1/2 hr was spent then we went our ways...hence this load of Hot Air being spewed...Nothing else to do...

I can almost tell you with all certainly why your mom refuses to put your dad in assisted living....It's labeled is LOVE. As long as she can be near him or close to him you nor family will not be able to change that. To try to change that will only cause her grief and might cause her to give up too. Just saying cause been there done that for my man....I been a widow for five years now know it all to well. Honestly would never changed a thing...I thrived on every moment with him while he was with me.....and my late hubby was many years older than me. But age is only a number when there Love between two people.

After the last few Days of relatively good Sunny Weather I got stuck into the Garden work and managed to mow all the Lawns / Trimmed the Hedges / Stripped the Palms / Deadheaded the Roses and did a spot of Weeding... we had a viewing yesterday Evening so I went all out to Impress and it appeared to have worked as the Couple were back onto the Auctioneer early this Morning with a respectable Offer but just not good enough...usually the first few Offers are turned down before the serious Bidding begins so I'm hoping some good comes out of this...

so just to be curious. do people start going nuts over there and start bidding wars over a certain property if they like it and start out bidding one another and offering more money

That is the whole idea...A Property in Mallow was recently put on the Market for an Initial asking Price of €165,000 {$196,776} the latest offer is now €240,000 {$286,220} but it all depends on the Location and Employment prospects and while the Scenery here in Sligo is Mouthwatering and to die for, the North West {Sligo and Donegal "Done-e-gaul"} for years has been ignored by successive Governments allowing Employment to dwindle and People to Emigrate to larger Cities and Abroad...If my Property was located in Dublin I would be beating People away from the Door despite a Price Tag of in excess of €400,000 {$477,034}whereas here its only valued at €198,000 {$236,131} and no turning away Buyers...this is as a result of the Recession we experienced in 2007 and are only beginning to come out of it...

I purchased this Property in 2006 at the Height of the Celtic Tiger for €325,000 {$387,572}...so far my loss is in excess of €125,000 {$149,000} and there is not a bloody thing I can do about it...We're the lucky ones... 1,000's of Homes have already been repossessed by the Wankers {er, sorry that should read Bankers...slip of the Finger} who were the prime cause of this entire debacle...They will be closing down parts of Heaven and building Extensions to Hell to cater for these pieces of Scum that brought so much misery to so many Innocent People and Children by putting them out onto the Streets...
