Maybe Fageol Knows...

Love those glasses. Sarah Palin is the one that can see Russia from her back yard right.
If Sarah's back yard is on Little Diomede Island, she can see Russia (Russia owns Big Diomede). But from her backyard in Wasilla? No so much. Was just in Wasilla this evening with my friend Sierra. It was sunny, warm, and peaceful. After dinner, we hit Palmer (Moose and Legion Post 15), then Chugiak, Post 33, then the Eagles in ANC (closed), and we closed AmVets Post 2. Pretty lady; tasty calamari and French dip, and good Tuaca, chardonnay, and cabernet.

I think that statement meant Russia can be seen from Alaska as in Alaska was her back yard.

I don't think she literally meant she could stand on her deck and see the Kremlin.

I don't think she said "I can see..." I seem to recall that was a line in a skit on Saturday night live. Although there are many Russian names of places and people here, Russia isn't much of a trading partner with the US (it's #30 according to one source); ergo we don't see many Russian planes at Anchorage International Airport. Moscow is about 9 hours from here by air so I'm guessing Sarah could see Moscow from a US registered plane. Otherwise she'll need a vast improvement on her designer glasses that became an instant hit when she linked up with John McCain in his run for president. There's a good chance that she'll be an interim member of the House of Representatives. And since she was a crappy governor, IMHO and assuming that happens, the only way she can go is up. At the next fundraiser we're together, I'll get a picture taken with her.

We get a lot of their porn stars.

Speaking of Poles, here Poles of the non-porn stripe, you guys better tell Mr. Ellis to head up this way. It looks like his GF is getting into show biz. But please tell him to be cautious. In a recent post Lolly said that she's also going to operate a paver. 1651871231343.webp

They're still Ukrainian even if they're in Poland. 👍
I'd be foolish (or more foolish than I am) to argue that they're not still Ukrainian.

My buddy in Kiev (my hematologist is of Ukrainian heritage and made sure that I say "Kiev" as a 2-syllable word, if that makes any difference -- I think she and I BS too much but I realize that I have to learn more genetics and cell physiology to compete) says that many Ukrainians and Poles are of the same stock; thus my comment. Besides that, you entered a new discursion which is generally welcome and the order of the day on this site.

Yes thank you! Way back when Ukraine became independent of Russia or USSR.
The aircraft coming in was Aeroflot and then it became air Ukraine, the destination was Kiev, (Key-Ev).
For some reason the media outlets are determined to pronounce Kiev as (Keeve) even though Ukrainians interviewed say it as Key-ev.

On a side note the former Russian Ilyushin was creepy AF. On the aircraft the was a room mid fuselage that had a chair and a desk and a WINDOW in the FLOOR. We used to half joke it was a spy plane that had passengers aboard.

I hear ya. I keep hearing the radio people say it as Keev and I'm like NO! Stop! Who told you that!?!?

It's Keee-EV you morons!

Chaps my ass.

This supplements what I mean: "Polish President: There will actually be no border between Poland and Ukraine This border will not exist! So that we live together on this earth, building and rebuilding together our common happiness and common strength, which will allow us to repel any danger or any possible threat." Quote from Graham's newsletter supplementing Bob Homan's newsletter: Gmail

Yeah that doesn't mean Poland and Ukraine aren't still two different countries with two different governments and two different citizenships.

There's no point in nitpicking the obvious. I'm just happy to see the refugees are being welcomed. I have a bartender friend here in Anchorage who hails from southern Poland near the Carpathians. One would not know she's Polish by her accent, actions, etc. I'm guessing that her surname, Zakrzewska, just might give away her heritage. She maintains ties with her family there. Her relatives there have opened up an old house for refugees. I think that's pretty cool.
