Maybe Fageol Knows...

22C or 71.6F today and I got the A/C going. Then again these emissions trucks always run hot and the direction of the heat is toward the cab.

Got stuck in a 10-mile long traffic jam Saturday. Via my lady, I helped a trucker. When I was in the inside lane, she stuck her legs out the window to tan them. At intervals in our hour and a half long 10-mile jaunt a trucker was alongside us. I'm sure those pretty legs of my trophy queen friend helped his attitude because the construction crew blocking the road sure as hell didn't -- not that they had a choice.

Good lash-up. Good Pay. Top tier equipment. I'm guessing that line driver position is easily good for $100K/year.

To the extent that one can be happy about remembering the deaths of a lot of good folks in uniform and those associated with the defense of this country and its interests (unfortunately the interests are determined by a bunch of crooks in Congress and the administration), Happy Memorial Day!

Don't know how hot it is down there in America but for two weeks we've had sunny weather in the greater Anchorage Area and up to 85°F weather. That's damn hot for here. According to one guy, we feel hotter because the sun is lower on the horizon so we get it spread over more of us. (Why does 75 degrees feel so hot in Alaska?). But what the hell, my GF loves it (taken last Saturday at the drag strip part of the Alaska raceway Park).

The hot weather is producing a few more alligators on our highways. Air conditioners on rigs are a lot better than when I broke in in the mid 1960s -- they were luxuries then -- but I'm wondering if all the emission equipment on today's rigs screw up the air conditioning systems or screw up the air flow in cabs.

I was out at my son's weed-growing operation and his air conditioning equipment was having a tough time keeping up.DanaLegsTats.webp

Well, at least Birchy could get his 4 1/2 hour nap in Anchorage in the dark!
If he sees the pic of my gf would he be kept awake? If so, he might just as well stay awake in the light by heading to Deadhorse on the haul road (more officially, the Dalton Highway).

Wow, that's awesome! It must be pretty normal for you, but to see that for the first time would be cool!
The day after Summer solstice should be a State holiday.
Here's another view of the daylight up this way as opposed to the non-daylight down in America ("America is an Alaskan term for the lower 48 states). But in winter when we only have a few hours of daylight we pay for these long days with very short days (like 5 hours of daylight and not very good daylight -- but it's doable). 1655981852325.webp

Talk about wind chill and what not this is a straight up true story. Was throwing chain on a rig in the middle of Wyo. one night with chill -80 the next day temp was +80 .
Afew years ago I fueled up in Cheyenne and it was 65 & sunny ...

By the time I got passed Laramie awhile later it was a freaking BLIZZARD..

Later I came to realize that's very common occurrence around Elk Mountain but was "Green" as far as running West Coast at that point..

My final year with that company I mostly avoided the freakin "CIRCUS" that is I-80 across Nebraska & southeastern Wyoming all together..

I would cut 90 across South Dakota then at Gillette Wyoming catch down to Rawlings and join 80 there..

Probably afew extra hours and miles but went a very long ways towards "Preserving" my SANITY

Just looped Valdez (pronounced "val DEEZ" if you want to sound like an Alaskan) from Anchorage. The only practical route (by a car or truck) takes one by Glacier View. And when I passed it, I was reminded of the July 4th insanity that occurred there. Maybe watching something or even participating in such insanity as watching vehicles being launched over a cliff is tantamount to some sanity-insanity catharsis. All I can say for gf and myself is that we loved the hell out of it.
