Knowledge, Knowledge, Knowledge

MN's not really mad at me though. He's mad at how our country has (d)evolved from what it was originally thought to be. We just kinda got off to a rough start. I'm actually the type of officer, who wouldn't do, some of things I said "I was allowed" to do. Because if I did, IMO, I would be violating his rights, even though the courts disagree with us(MN and I). But that discussion is over with I hope. Probably not, but one can always hope.

Spot on. Figured you knew it too.

ahhh! Well, thanks for your service. Sorry to hear about your med condition. No pun intended, LOL.
Thanks.

It cost me that second rocker though. The day I got my " you served the army" banner, the unit I was in activated for Iraq. Bitter sweet day.

I had 24 in my squads. Had a regular duty squad and the SRT squad.

ya, see, I was lucking if we had 18 in the entire platoon. 22+ years, never seen a full compliment of the allotted 32 for a CE platoon. Oh well, just taught us to be very efficient with our resources.

Thanks.

You didn't miss anything. The "Sand Box" was no pleasure cruise. I didn't mind the action, but the terrain sucked. God how I prayed to be able see the mountains with TREES again.

I like the bottom one the best.

I agree with the 30 min.
A certain rampaging lunatic embarrassed me today with his support for what he thought was my view on the 30 break. It immediately devolved into little more than a rage fest against e-logs. I didn't even get to read the third page before it got deleted.

Anyway the post of mine he began his psychopathic temper tantrum attempting to reference was a thread in which I said the 30 break is a waste of time, and for the same reason he gave. 30 minutes isn't enough time to do anything other than run in & wait in line at McSubway, then eat it while driving.

So it would make more sense to make it an hour instead of 30 minutes.

But it would make even more sense to just scrap the 30 break entirely. If they were to poll every driver in all facets of the industry, and let them pick between the current 30, extending it to 60 minutes, or scrapping the mandatory mid-shift break entirely, drivers will overwhelmingly choose to scrap it.

You reap what you sow. A bunch of jackasses show up to an FMSCA listening session and spout off crap like, I ain be got me no time to stop and eat or take no BRAKE ( yeah that's right brake) and this is whut you git!

The only jackasses available to attend the listening session in the middle of the day at a place with no truck parking, Bitching about how they ain't got no time to stop, Ironicle!

Beg, Pardon but you get a 14 hour window, You can drive 11 that leaves a three hour window where you may do as you please in a perfect world and that is what FMCSA deals in, A perfect world

@Sapper

I have yet to see a viable justification for forcing me to split my day and steal a half hour from me that I'd rather be parked at my end-of-shift destination winding down instead of still on the road. It forces (if a driver runs out his hours) a near 12-hour day behind the wheel. It doesn't take me a half hour to get out of my truck, use the bathroom and stretch my legs.

"We don't gitta take'a brake" was intended to request flexibility on the 14. It was misinterpreted to mean "That mean ol' comp"ny won't let us stop for a minute." Mainly because illiterate, less-than-articulate imbeciles were chosen to represent our interests.

If you know of a justification for further narrowing our control over our own schedules (as adults) from your own driving experience, I'd sure like to see it..

I cut my teeth on one of these....
Rather miss it too.

I saw a 1989 SuperDog the other day with a sleeper on it a little bigger than that one, pulling a flat near Mt Vernon, IL.

I thought about stopping the dude somehow and asking how much he wanted for it. IMO, best looking truck ever.

I wish more people were interested in restoring old SuperLiners than 359 Pete's. Those things are everywhere. You rarely get to see a SuperDog in decent running condition.

I know for me its a real pain in the wazoo to take those 1/2 breaks i do it, but my problem is that it tires me out....kinda like sitting in wall to wall traffic doing 4 mph....

as far as those saying well 1/2 is the minimum take an hour, hey that is great if you not with a bfc that is willing to write a driver up for taking too long on 1/2 break and not moving as soon as one's 1/2 break is up.

I think most would be ok, even I would be if there was more time in the 14 hour clock in order to do what we need to do, and I know that those that work real jobs meaning 9-5 jobs they are required as its mandated that they get at least 2 15 min breaks which would be paid as most are and one 1/2 hour break that is sometimes paid and sometimes not....so if they going to mandate us to take 1/2 hour break then someone should be paying for our time to sit there for 1/2 hour.

once you spend 2-3 hours at a shipper or reciever, and then take 1/2 break doesn't leave much driving time or allows one to shut down and take a 1-2 hour nap if needed either depending on the load circumstances.

I don't mind the 30 minute break.

Seriously, it's the most minor regulation change I can think of since the nationwide banning of radar detectors. Which was HUGE...for you rookies.

Anyway, while they've got you distracted on the pedantic subject of debating the freakin 30 minute break...which you probably took at some point in the driving day anyway ...

I haven't gotten a speeding ticket since I had "bird dog" confiscated in E-town that time.

That was quite the episode...lemme tell ya. The dude was actually sprinting out of the scale house.
