To the one poster who made a silly ass remark about the couple dancing and blocking other people from there journey home I ask...........Can I call a cop and have some douchebag (urban dictionary; An individual who has an over-inflated sense of self worth, compounded by a low level of intelligence, behaving ridiculously in front of colleagues with no sense of how moronic he appears.) locked up for blocking the fuel pumps because the retard is doing God knows what in the truck stop when Im tying to fuel and be on my way home? Answer No. And his/her truck is totally blocking my attempt at forward movement.

Can people while on foot walk around said dancing couple on a subway platform? Answer, YES
Goddamn nanny state is alive and well!!

And when a member of this forum that is from the Ukraine, who may or may not have ever step foot in this country, see's this, The United States of America as a place thats starting to look like his country with the actions of are police, should tell you something right there in its self.

I would be the poster who made that silly ass remark. I posted that one of the articles stated that one of the original charges were blocking the flow of traffic. I did not say whether I agreed or disagreed, only that I could see where it might be a problem and related it to situations in grocery stores where certain shoppers seem to think they are the only ones in the store. The article also stated the couple was first approached and advised that dancing was illegal on the subway platform.

I DO NOT, under any circumstances support a law that like this, just as I would not support a law blocking grocery store isles or truck stop fuel pumps. We have way too many stupid laws as it is. However, I do see where any of the above scenarios could be a problem. Also, while I disagree with unnecessary laws, I do realize the cops did not make the laws and many times they too disagree with them, but it is their job to enforce them. More people should work to get rid of laws like this rather than blame those who have the job of enforcing them.

On the other hand, if I choose to continue doing something after being told it is illegal, regardless of how stupid the law is, then the consequences are on me.

Quite frankly I believe more people should stay home and have sex and then everyone would be happy, except in the situation I mentioned earlier with my noisy neighbors, and even then I would not support a law preventing it.

I'm being facetious.

I was assaulted by a cop outside a nightclub about 10 years ago. he was in plain clothes, and hit me in on the shoulder with a sap from behind when he arrived at a scene where a lone officer had requested back up because 4 of us were trying to talk him out of arresting a couple friends of ours that had already finished punching eachother before the first officer arrived. No physical threats were made at the officer, no verbal threats either. They just felt powerless in the face of six grown men who obviously weren't intimidated by the fact that he had a badge and a gun. The plain clothes guy that hit me in the shoulder ended up knocking himself out when he smashed his chin into my elbow four or five times, and ended up with a broken jaw. The next four uniform guys to arrive helped me off the poor fellow and into a car and took me someplace safe for the night.

Eventually security footage from the cameras at the nightclub helped convince a judge and prosecutor that my version of this story was closer to the truth than the poor, broken jawed, soon to be severely reprimanded for excessive use of force, plainclothes officer's version. I have run into that officer on a few occasions since then, and he has no interest at all in talking to me at all. He will just turn around and walk away. If he had done that in the first place, he would probably be a detective seargant now instead of out working bar crowds at 2:00am.

Fuggim, and all his cocky buddies too. Righteous officers, that treat people with respect, will be treated with respect. Power tripping punks that wear uniforms will get what they deserve, which is their jaws wired shut for 4 weeks.

I can agree with the part about staying home and doing the Wild Thing.

Need to think laws "for supermarkets," "For sex neighbors when you have thin walls," "For sex neighbors, when you have thick walls."

You understand that the traffic on the platform of the subway or in a supermarket is a everyday problem? What law can regulate all the everyday situations, such as in a supermarket? Can you imagine work of police? Hey, this guy is not turned his back.

You understand that this is absurd? You argue about the rights of who are pay taxes. But I know who gets the rights. People do not notice it.

Now the right and laws it’s policies. It is the policy when you have as if a lot of rights. But really, they limit your rights.
They know how to play on human weakness, conceit and envy.

I read this news. I am glad that this is a mistake officers. I am happy if the USA its very rare.

But I read other people's opinions. About the supermarkets and wild game too

I didn't find any news articles that actually stated that dancing was indeed allowed although they all rightfully poked fun at the idea of such a law. I did find where dancing is illegal in New York City in many public places unless the establishment has a special license.

As a side note, there is a small town in Missouri that has had a ban on school dancing for many years despite attempts to get it changed. I don't know what such a ban accomplishes or why it has been allowed to remain for so long.

The town I was referring to was Purdy Missouri but I would almost bet it shares similarities to the small town depicted in Footloose. Probably more towns like that than we even realize but I just didn't think New York would be one of them, lol.

When I read..."charges dropped" my mind said.... ​because it was not a chargeable offense.

I'm gettin' old...........lemme alone!

DD, obviously I am even older because I done went blind, lol. I read through the OP's link, the one I posted, and others I found online, and never once found where it said that it was indeed legal, although I did see where charges were later dropped. I just now went back and re-read the link I posted and there it was, lol.

From some research on the subject, I did learn that dancing is illegal in New York in bars and restaurants unless a special license is obtained by the establishment. Apparently subway platforms are not included.

Thank you for pointing that out.
