They lied on the BOL. Doing my math that load is over 43,000lbs and the BOL says it's just under 39,000.
I can do just over 42,000 payload in this truck if it's loaded perfectly.
The day cab could do a theoretical 46k because it was a lot lighter but there's no getting around that 38k drive axle weight.

Ran all day today without my license and didn't realize it until I got to my regular customer in Virginia, because it's a Show Me place.
Fortunately I go there almost every day so they checked me in with my truck number.
For whatever reason when I grabbed my stack of cards (fuel, credit, rewards, etc) I grabbed literally every card except the license because it was on the bottom and my fingers didn't catch it and I didn't notice.
Makes me wonder how many times I've left whatever happened to be the bottom card behind but it didnt matter because it was neither my fuel card nor my license.

I've done that but I forgot my whole damned wallet. No license, no cards. Luckily back then I would have some cash in my pocket.
I can't say that these days, I don't even carry cash in my pockets.

in todays world you should have a sizable cash backup. I carry at least a hundred in case something happens and the damn cards don't work and I also have 15 grand in a floor safe in case shit really hits the fan and of course I have trading stock for long term shit has hit the fan scenarios, mainly ammunition in various calibers reloading equipment and supplies that would be worth more than gold I am not the prepper I once was but still have a few tricks up my sleeve

My local Dollar General had most of their freezer/fridge section discounted 70% off. They're trying to clear it out for a remodel that's happening soon.
I didn't go all hoarder but I got what I planned to get plus a few extras. Felt like pre-COVID. It was nice.

I only have the freezer that is a part of the fridge so I can't do too much stocking up.

Factory data reset my tablet. It slowed to a crawl recently, hoping it gets its mojo back. It was never super fast to begin with but all I use it for is ELD and truck GPS. Don't want to spend any money on another one.

Some pecker head jammed a wire in the 7 way of the chassis I picked up today. Shorted out and blew all the trailer fuses in my truck. It was so quick I didn't see the lights ever working so I thought it was the trailer until I hooked to another one and it did the same thing.
By the time I got done figuring out where the related fuses are and replacing them I had another 40 minutes added to my day. Then a couple wrecks on 81 and such plus the usual rush hour out of Richmond VA.
Long day despite hauling ass.

Something different today. Delivered to Upper Marlboro where I usually pick up then took an empty to a moving company and got loaded with a couple soldiers' personal effects.
I have no idea what it was exactly because it was crated and it's none of my business regardless, but it felt like an honor to do it.
Apparently this is something we're doing on the regular now.
It's a live which I do sparingly to avoid getting screwed over, but it wasn't bad. I had never been there before and didn't know the process or layout and it was still only an hour total. Even after struggling a bit to line up with the dock.
I have no idea what it was exactly because it was crated and it's none of my business regardless, but it felt like an honor to do it.

Anyone here use an accountant who knows all the trucking tax laws?
I used to use a local guy but he cost me more than just doing it myself.
I was DIY for a couple years but after this year I'm thinking I'd rather just pay a guy to get bombarded with and sort through all my invoices.
Intuit TurboTax charging 300 bucks this year makes it more appealing to have a real guy do it.

my wife has associate accounting degree she kept all the records and then we took it all to a CPA that knew the trucking ins and outs she only charged 150 because my wife had everything added up and it took less than an hour to finish it out

Today was oil change day. Got home yesterday only 11 miles over the OCI, which was super conservative because it's using the dealer's basic bulk oil, not the long spec I usually use.
They WAY overtightened my filters. I almost couldn't get them off. I think it was pure rage and spite that kept me going and gave me strength.
Anyway, it's all good now and I'll be doing them myself all these warmer months.
I also found out or was reminded that the OEM oil is made by Shell. It says it right on the carton. Not on the jug itself though. I might start looking around. It might just be Rotella. The dealer has it in abundance though and it's easy to just swing by and get a couple cases. I use OEM filters anyway so I'm already there for that. They also give me a decent discount with my account on file.
