anyone had problems with crst?im looking at going to school then working for them..

HOLLY BUCKETS that is some crash.Since this is a CRST thread, did a crst hit u.
No. a drunk in a convertible did. Well, I don't know if it was a convertible before he hit us, but it was after they pulled him out.

Just thinking back on it, it's amazing that he lived. It should have killed him 10 times over. Act of God. No other explanation.

I wish I had a pic of that car.

Hope that drunk got a nice hefty fine and some jail time with bubba. But anyways just curious how a car did that much destruction to your trailer. Was you sleeping or driving.I dont know if u put the article on here but nevertheless I cant get to it anyways if u did.

I'm not sure what you mean by "article", but I was sleeping at the time. The car didn't hit the trailer. That damage was from getting knocked on our side. Had to climb out the drivers side window.

CRST is not the best way to go if u can't deal with being in the truck with a partner (mostly a man) for 3 weeks at a time. I ran for them for 6 months before I left due to family issues.

Iff your partner quits - or u can't get along with them - they'll have u sitting around if they can't find a partner 4u in your area. Because they like to give u a partner close to u so u can park the truck at a terminal or somewhere near BOTH your homes.

I made good money, but that was back in 03. I wanna come back to OTR now, but I don't wanna do the partner thing again. I would consider Roehl, but I don't think they hire from Jersey.

well here we go ..... me and the wife leave sat to go to school with crst. wish us luck we are probably going to need it. but we got to start somewhere

This is a very old thread, but I just got some news this morning from my driver that came over from CRST Malone in Alabama. After speaking with his attorney and them filing all the legal consumer complaints with the attorney generals office and the BBB of Alabama. He received a check from CRST Malone yesterday for damages rendered under their Lease Program of their flatbed division.

If anyone has a consumer complaint with this company take it to the BBB of Alabama, shippers usually will check the BBB rating of a carrier when they are looking to contract one for any length of time

Well good deAL,GLAD HE GOT HIS MONEY.mORE DRIVERS SHOULD TAKE THESE RIP OFF COMPANIES TO court

i had to back up 3 miles once. yeah, definitely BTDT.
Historic Route 66 Business Loop in Middle of Nowhere, Texas. I saw some trucks parked in a lot so i pulled in so i could stop and go to the bathroom! (i had to go bad!) pulled out, there were no signs whatsoever. it was the middle of the night. i couldnt see much. there was route 66 business loop and what looked like some ramps. i only saw the ramp i got off and what looked like another ramp. i went down what looked like another ramp. it was going in the wrong direction, but it was parralel with the highway and there wasnt anything in the other direction, and well, most ramps in texas look like this. i figured id just have to go under the highway and turn around and get on or something similarly crazy, right? maybe theres even a big loop on the ramp like we have in michigan.
so uhm, what it turned out to be was a 3 mile long road that went to nowhere. it was one lane, two way, had NOTHING on it. NOTHING. went NOWHERE. this road had no purpose.
it even had signs saying SPEED LIMIT 55 and ROAD ENDS, but why? wtf?

so yeah, i had to back down it. the other ramp was in a weird place that i just didnt see. like i said, not a single sign or lights!
totally not my fault, but maybe i shouldve stopped and tried to figure out what was going down when i saw a sign that said "ROAD ENDS IN 2 miles". i thought that meant it turned into a highway ramp in 2 miles!

next time ill pull over on the shoulder of the highway to go. im not going on those weird texas ramps unless theres signs or lights.

wow! what driving school did this dude go to?

New to the forum here, and know this is an old thread, but wanted to thank everyone for their input re: CRST. My husband currently drives for Malone and I've appreciated reading all your posts; it helps hearing it from the horse's mouth.

DO NOT GOTO THIS COMPANY!! The school part of it was terrific,Kirkwood Community College was terrific, and the orientation and the trainers in orientation although egotistical, some of them, were very proffesional and get you the tools needed to drive 18 wheeler. Unfortunately the companies level of professionalism stops there..
As I write this, they have me stranded in Fontana California miles away from my vehicle in Iowa
, Now I met many bad attitude drivers in my time with the school and the orientation, so let me clear the air in the fact I was not,am not one of them.. Read on to learn more..
After being assigned a "Lead Driver" the person responsible for your next 28 days of driving, I was dispatched by Greyhound bus to Nashville Tn, to meet with him. I chose to rent a car at my own expense, both for time, and for personal safety and reliability. I met with my driver at a truck stop, and instantly upon seeing the truck, which is his thru the owner op program they have,it was gong to be a long trip, but I had prepared myself mentally for this by accepting certain people in this profession is why the industry has the stigmata of dirty truck drivers.. So I get into the bacteria crusted vehicle and load my stuff up.. The "lead driver" jokes that he had just had a lot lizard in the truck, and the smell in there confirmed my suspicion that it was a brag, and not a joke.. The next morning we take off to finish his load that he has in the trailer, and are then dispatched by our condescending dispatch, lets just call him Phil, to pick up another load and head to Florida. We get just south of Atlanta,Ga, when we call it a night, and he wants to go to a particular truckstop in Jackson,Ga, because it has a bar,and he knows some "women" there.. While we are there we find that there is a truck headed to where we were in Florida,so we are told to relay the load and head to Atlanta to pick up another headed to North Carolina.. He wants to hang out untill the next day in Jackson because he had been drinking all day and the night before, but I am eager to get the load to where we need to be,so that is our first argument. We pick up the load in Atlanta, where he has a fued with what he refers to as "his people" meaning black, and that I am white,so I can not comment on it.. I drive my 10 hours to our destination to deliver the load the following morning, and we are dispatched again, also again to his dismay, to California. He was wanting to turn down the load and hold out for one going thru Alabama and Texas so he could see more of his "people" while passing thru. The entire time I drove he would sit there talking on the phone,or in the back sleeping. My driving skills were such that after 2 days, which by his own admission, were such that we would be classified as Team Drivers, instead of student. I handled all the tasks put upon me,and drove my entire shifts while stopping only for a 15 minute break for days on end. He would drive for 4-5 then wake me up either by his reckless driving and constant stabbing of the brakes,or by slamming things around to get me up to come keep him company while he drove. All the while lambasting the company " CRST" while driving.. He stated many of the other companies he drove for,and pointed out how and why each one was better than this one,and even offered to give me contact names to use as references, should i decide to change companies.. We arrive in california after I had driven all night, roughly 650 miles, and I went to sleep. 3 hours later I am awoken again when I am tossed out of the bunk by his driving and encroaching on other vehicles infornt of him,he prefers the 1 second following distance, and heavy use of the brakes.. We deliver our load and pick up another headed to Florida.. I drive 5 hours out from Fontana, and decide it is not safe for me to continue driving without coffee and something to eat.. Hoping that some food will give me the fuel needed to continue. Once I fill his truck up with fuel I proceed to drive out of the fuel pumps and park to run into the truckstop to get some wendy's.. At the most 10 minutes.. He pokes his head out from the bunk area, and starts screaming that this is not the time to take a break, and to either get going down the road,or get the " f****" out of "his" truck. I calmly say ok,and call dispatch. I speak to a manager, Dave Turner, who politely and proffesionally makes me feel assured that everything is fine, and that once they rescue the load,I will ride with this lead driver back to Fontana to meet up with a new lead driver. I check into a hotel for the night, and upon waking back up my truck is gone.. Thank God I had the foresight to get all of my belongings out of the truck beforehand! Now I am stranded in Ehrenburg,AZ and have to take a taxi to Blythe, then a Greyhound bus back to Fontana, future unknown.. I talk to my dispatcher,Phil, who has been nothing but condescending since I called and introduced myself to him on day one. I have to follow up,which means 33 minutes on hold on the phone,to get my confirmation number for the bus, which he said he ould call back and give me.. At this point I just know I am headed to Fontana, thats all the info given.. Upon getting to the bus terminal in San Bernadino,Ca, I pay someone I was on the bus with $25 to give me a ride to the yard, only to find out once getting here,I could have not spent the money, and the hotel would have came to get me.. I had no idea what hotel they use here, but I guess that was my fault due to no telepathic ability.. I sit here in Fontana now for 4 days, unpaid, which is only a measly $50 a day while going thru the 28 day program, stranded. Im sitting at a picnic table, waiting for my mother to open my new credit card so I can book a flight home,as since I have technically "quit" I have been told repeatedly I am on my own.
Now I understand some people may have had positive experiences with this company, but after being around the yard here, and in Iowa,no single driver has had a single good thing to say about this company,period... Beware if you choose this company,as you more than likely may end up in this same situation.. I was fortunate to have money as a back up,as this whole expierence to date has cost me almost $4700 for my girlfriend and I.. Nothing is free, and nothing was cheap.. Goodluck, and beware

That's a horrible story.Sorry you had nothing but bad luck with them So many companies are like this. You have a bad trainer, you turn him in and unfortunately nothing gets done. They act COMPLETELY STUPID.They could care less about the trainees, just get that load delivered is all they care about. So sad how the trainees get treated when all you want to do is get qualified and get some exp.Hang in THERE,YOU'LL FIND A COMPANY WITH AN EXCELLENT TRAINER or at least better then the guy u did haveToo bad u didnt have some exp,id give u my bosses number.

I did my 8 months and 4 days with CRST completed my contract and bailed. I had a great trainer who has also since left there. Terry my trainer had a fully stocked truck of food a fridge a microwave which he always insisted eat from the truck first. Plus he treated me to a couple of big buffets at 3 different casinos, if i was running short on cash he would flip me 20.00 or toss me a couple packs of smokes. he bought me the small truck stop guide and transcribed his notes from his to mine. which included place's not listed. Gave me the in and out of the company, made sure I knew all the back door numbers, Qualcomm even when we had to sit for are 34hour restart he pick a location cause he knew of empty building with loading docks to get me even more practice on backing. I got on his dispatchers fleet Tiff was great she gave me a 2010 FL with only 13k on it. First Co driver was a former student of my trainer we did ok gather but he got his year in and was bailing out on me when a friend from driving school called looking for a new co driver so we teamed for 5 months till I bailed for a local job. Night and Weekends Dispatch was and will always be a joke. Another poster said Phil was his dispatcher and I can confirm Phil was a joke condescending A$$ as he was a night and weekend guy when I was there. Home Time was a joke for the first 3 months 2-7 days late then we started scheduling thurs, fri, sat and Sunday a month in advance so are day shift Dispatcher was getting home on time. We knew there was an issue with are day shift dispatcher and word leaked she was quitting July 14th I left July 4th she told the fleet July 7th she was leaving to return to School almost half of her fleet Quit that week. Overall I had a good experience with CRST would I recommend them Only if there was not another available option

Yes he will. It's all about the attitude.Do you realize the crap the trainers have to put up with from know it all newbies?????????????Yes there's many bad trainers but there is alot of good trainers as well. You can't just give up because u had a bad trainer. Some good trainers do turn sour towards a newbie because the newby don't listen and refuses to listen. In this guys case I suspect he did have a bad trainer. But if he hangs in there he will be one of the best drivers on the road unlike some ppl who shall be nameless and im not talking about u either.
no you wont!
