CENSORED AND THEN BANNED FOR TELLING THE TRUTH

The way things are going in this country, it is not too hard to become "anti American". It's easy to have blinders on to how bad things really are when a career change (or whatever else) had to happen after the economy went sour.

I used to love this country. I served it for over a decade. I see no reason these days to have much faith in the way things are going, and the powers that be who run it.

The U.S. is falling farther and farther behind. This country is becoming a Third World Nation. Countries we were once so far ahead of and laughed at are now way ahead of us and laughing at us. WE DESERVE IT!!!!! I see no real reason to not leave the U.S., and if I had the money to do so, I would.

As for tracing this guy's IP addy: who really cares where he lives?!?! It's no great feat to play detective and find out precisely where someone is communicating from. How do we know he is in the U.S. to close out some final affairs? At any rate, if he found greener pastures somewhere else, I applaud him.

Sooner or later, the trucking Industry is in for a rude awakening. I hope I see it soon. Frankly I could care less if I saw it shut down, and the local straight trucks take the freight from the rail yards. OTR Trucking does not really need to exist. Our goods would be less expensive if more of it were shipped long distance on the trains.

That's how sick I am of reading how truckers want things their way where HOS - etc. is concerned, and how carriers think they can force a driver to running according to their own UNWRITTEN policies.

LOL, that should win me some "friends" here.

Nothing personal - freedom of speech.

I'm simply saying I don't see where this guy is anti american.I don't know what the laws are like where his wife and daughter live but judging from his 2 post the laws are'nt like they are here and his wife and daughter don't have to put up with what we do on a daily basis. His wife and daughter may not even feel the same way he does because they are'nt here to judge for them selves. So maybe is what he is really saying,I thank god my wife and daughter don't live here to see just how broken the industry is.I can strongly relate to what this guy is saying.I've been off work for awhile now and did alot of thinken since then. It's actually been nice not having to put up with this industry even if only for a little while. It's been a much neded brake for me.Bkrj probably does his fair share of complaining about this industry, maybe something happened with his last company now he hates the entire industry.Roaddust do you ever plan to drive again?Right now I can't think of anything good about the industy.Every single day you read another long post of another law. When is FMCSA going to stop? This guy has a legitimite complaint about the industry. There are thousands and americans that feel the same way he does. They're proud to be americans and proud of our great nation but not proud to be american trk drivers when the law is so much against the american drivers.

You didn't get what I was saying. That's okay. You have your opinion and I have mine about the statement he made about his wife and daughter thankfully not living or ever being here.

Time out for a second, .. while you ARE entitled to speak your mind in this country, you aren't entitled to the soap box and megaphone. Nobody's required to host it on their server. I've had some of my posts edited or deleted, but I never cried "freedom of speech".

As for the rest of the post I quoted here but didn't include all of (for space) I don't blame you for your disgruntlement with the industry and the country as a whole. But I do see an unusual lack of patriotism for someone who has served for ten years.

Yes, the country is falling apart all around us and becoming a third world country at an alarming rate. But damn it, it's OUR third world country and I think a true patriot would prefer to stand and fight rather than flee.

And you're correct about there being little need for OTR trucking when rail is more efficient. But for now, we can't afford to lose any more jobs. And currently, trucking is one of the only jobs they can't export to China.

ESPECIALLY

About proved my own point! I was going to say ESPECIALLY when using a spell checker... There have been lots of times that I have spelled a word properly that my stupid smart phone changes... I texted someone earlier today. I said "that's totally doable!" My phone had changed it to "that's totally spanked!" WTH? I guess spanked IS doable...

I was about to post a picture in the jokes thread the other day. It was a screen shot from when somebody's stupid-phone changed the word "bag" to "vag-jj" and the sender was talking about her dog eating out of a bag that had fallen open and spilled it's contents out on the floor. It was hilarious.

Whatever on "Soap Box" and "Megaphone". As for "Freedom of Speech": I did not mean to imply you cried "freedom of speech". I should have worded it 'No offense to anyone.....' . I basically quote the underlying thing where this forum is concerned. Some get away with more freedoms than others though.

I actually agree with most of your post, and what I do not agree with, I certainly see where you are coming from.

It is MY choice where my feelings about this country is concerned. As for serving; I was a bit more nieve then. As we grow older, we grow wiser. I defended what I thought this country stood for. I have found out over the time since that it does not stand for everything I thought it did.

I love what the country was supposed to continue being. I served to defend the people who live here, my own family, and my homeland. I am against the Government. This country is going down because of a bickering Government who are only concerned for their own jobs. I have grown bored of the Republicans and Democrats "It's my way or the highway" attitudes.

The country is a sinking ship. If I choose to flee a sinking ship, that is my perogative in spite of anything I did in the past. It is my right to change my mind about this country (or more precisely, how it is run by these idiots voters put into office). Unfortunately, I can't flee.

Nothing moves forward. Jobs continue to leave. The Government does not help the people they screw over. That's why I said what I said.

I love the homeland and (most) of the people and what they are trying to accomplish. That's where it ends.

Back to the topic: I agree with what you say about more jobs being lost if OTR trucking were to be shut down. But in my position, it is a little hard for me to care, just as some here did not care about what I had to say a long time ago, and chose to do what was tantamount to calling me a lier, or I was to blame. Just another example of those who can't handle the truth.

Mis-spelled words purposely left because of all the complaints I see about those who do not use spell check :) .

Good morning . I dont have a lot of time today to respond to the things I read . I will say this . I am American, I was born in Long Branch ,NJ . My late father was a police officer and my mom worked for the US Army as a Civilian for 43 years . I drove trucks off and on since I was 14 years old . Before getting my CDL , I spent 11 years as a ER Trauma Tech . Am I " ANTI AMERICAN " no. . I know people from all over the world . I grew up in a very diverse neighborhood . I have ALWAYS been the type of person who when I meet someone from another part of the world , I want to know about and learn about the land , the way of life and learn something about the culture . What I am is , not one of those people who feels that the USA is " The Greatest Place On Earth" . Even though WE ALL were taught to think so . as far as my self and millions of others I , dont have that attitude . I know there is life outside of the USA .
I dont let on where I live now because it brings out the (for a lack of a better phrase ) hate for non Americans .And thats what it is hate .Most Americans feel that way because of what you were told to think and or believe all of your lives .Its not really your fault .
I am not a "commi" .Nor do I live in a communist country ,But when I mention that I dont live in the USA anymore , the words communist, and socialist are the first words to spill out of peoples mouths . It only goes to show where their heads are or have been led .
As for my IP address , I am a computer geek and if you know what to do , you can have your SHOWN IP address show pretty much any where in the world you want .
As far as my wife and daughter , if I had brought them here , we all would have ended up on the street. My daughter would never been able to go to college here , she would have seen disrespect like we see in kids . She would have learned that I WANT I WANT attitude and there would have been not to much I would have been able to do about it. Its just how it is .Respect is taught from the first breath here . yes kids can and do get out of control here but thats anywhere . But its nothing, nothing like the USA .
There are are a lot of Muslims here and trust me , no one here " hates them ".
OTR trucks here are very small and it is RARE and I do mean RARE to see a 53' trailer .Every once and a while you might see an old Cab over Freight Liner ,circa 1974. Trucking here is just weird . A large portion of trucks here are very unsafe .
I love Big trucks I always have loved them . But the love for trucking was swiftly stripped away from me and alot of others .
Getting to now people and talking and listening ,is how I learned about life in the Middle East .and no thats not where I live .

Sooner then later , people of the USA are going to have their eyes forced open ,and when that happens , you are not going to like what you see .Its been in our faces for ever . People like me , saw it long ago .
Just because someone leaves the USA ,does not mean they are anti American , we have just found a place and a way of life we like better . Now this is really going to **** most of you off really bad and I dont care . In 5 years I will be giving up my US citizenship .
Listen people . the USA is not the gretest place on earth. There is no"greatest place on earth "

To me, a person being able to speak his mind is the most American thing there is.

Flame War is over.

Everyone play nice. I need to sleep.

Here's some "brevity" that pretty much sums up the industry:

Those with a legitimate complaint merely revert to type under provocation. Today's Slave Masters of a Driver's servitude condition a driver to a kind of mechanical obedience the same ways the Slave Masters did in the old days. Nothing has improved much, and the uttering of negative and illegal imperatives instills the fear of retaliation for the driver.

That's as much a nutshell as I am capable of.

I dont let on where I live now because it brings out the (for a lack of a better phrase ) hate for non Americans .And thats what it is hate .Most Americans feel that way because of what you were told to think and or believe all of your lives.

I was raised in a home that taught love, compassion, forgiveness, acceptance. I was also taught that all people are created equal, and have equal right to exist and practice whatever pursuit they choose, provided that pursuit does not interfere with the rights and pursuits of others.

In 5 years I will be giving up my US citizenship.

Why in the world would you want to do that? And what does 5 years have to do with it?

Probably because he has to wait that long before he qualifies for citizenship in whatever country he is in.

There are several possibilities.
Unbeknownst to most of us, many countries don't allow dual citizenship. Some, like Australia, require that you give up foreign citizenship in order to obtain theirs, and only citizens can purchase property. Some may also restrict business ownership solely to citizens of that country. Maybe marriage, custody or inheritance laws. It's a good bet that the underlying reason is economics and not patriotism, necessarily.

Over the years I've had the chance to meet, talk and work with a few foreigners from all over. They all seemed universally sincere in their compliments about America and its people. It always gave me a proud and humble feeling at the same time.
I haven't gotten to travel and see the rest of the world beyond North America, but I'm sure there is beauty, adventure, opportunity and love in almost every corner of the world.
If I managed to find a little happiness and peace in my little corner of the world, I won't begrudge the same for anyone else.

And just for the record, I only made a few commie comments cuz I know how it ruffles a duck's feathers, LOL.
Besides, bkrnj, anyone who makes it out of Jersey deserves a little of the good life!

I was as well . but...

You must have some kind of shame afraid to mention where you are in the big bad world . You took no pride in America and have no pride in where you are now ! Otherwise you would stand up and tell the worl about the country you are so proud of . It's better if they have someone like you over where ever to hell your are . P.S. I'm not American .

Nothing is ever new in the world. Every generation has it's revolutionaries intent on fixing the system, exposing the sham and throwing off the yoke.
Some have even compared trucking to institutionalized slavery of the pre-civil war era.
I wasn't around in the 1800s but I would guess we don't have it quite that bad and the fellow that said that must have led a pampered life to even say that.

Steve Parks started Overdrive Magazine over 50 years ago as a voice for the trucker. OOIDA was formed in 1973. They have been fighting the same government that is screwing us over today, but some of y'all act like it's a new thing.
Both of those organizations have been saying the same things in Washington DC that I read on these message boards and they have been doing it long before many of you were born.
People have been fussing about the log book since 1938 and you can thank the Teamsters Union for that one. Ask for help from the government and that's what happens. The Union drivers were crying about having to work too hard and were trying to level the playing field by restricting what the independents were doing.

I learned long ago that I'm not changing anything by whining about it if I'm not prepared to take action. That's why you never see me bitching and crying.
Trucking has served me well over the years and I could have done alot worse for myself.

Regardless of one's citizenship, I just hate hearing these wannabe rookie truckers who barely got their feet wet telling the rest of us how sorry and gutless we are for not having the balls to fix the system. Babies with a few months under their belts have all the damn answers and have more excuses not to drive than they do solutions.

Some drivers seem content to lay on their ass and run their mouth too until the perfect job comes along that suits their requirements.

Then we have this mystery poster come along who is vague about everything, including his age, experience and location. Trucking since he was 14? Yeah, right. If he is happier wherever he is, that is probably what he wanted to begin with. Too bad he find his road to riches through trucking. Now he needs to go away and leave us alone.

Some of us lifelong southerners are a little touchy about folks coming down here to enjoy the nice weather and take advantage of the cheaper labor and then turn around and trash us for whatever reason and want to change our heritage.
If I let a man sleep in my house, I am offended if he turns around and criticizes my furniture.

I feel the same way about somebody fresh out of Werner/Swift/Schneider school telling me how dumb I am for being a trucker. They have a lot of criticisms and no solutions. Maybe it's not what they expected or their recruiter promised, and they need to rethink their career choice instead of whining and expecting the world to change to suit their desires.

I'm glad at least a few others on here could see where he wasn't only criticizing America's trucking industry but it's citizens and our way of life as well. We have our faults but I'm sure not going to head off to support another country after so many of my ancestors have fault and died for this one.
