Are you disgusting?

Being gross is a full contact sport. It's all about getting into people's head. If you say things that are shockingly grotesque they soon forget that you're a week and a half overdue for a shower. You can be 20 feet away and they suddenly feel the need for a shower of their own. ;$

When I was buying my 600 dollar permit at the Cheyenne POE yesterday there was a Valley Transport driver buying a way cheaper permit for a John Deere tractor that came out of Waterloo, or Dubuque, or something.

That company runs really nice trucks, but this driver was just vile. I could tell even teh DOT folks wanted him out of the building quick.

You can't find a shower and clean clothes all the damn way across Iowa and Nebraska...and pass at least 2 truck stops before the Cheyenne POE??!!

I don't get it. I just never will.

Take. A. Bath.

Yes, we will judge you, you stinky mess of a human.

I was stuck in Plainview, TX in August for three days, waiting on Cargill to kill some cows. I took a bath in the sink.
I was there for about 24 hours once. I bobtailed out. Came back.

When I was hooking up my trailer, every time the yard jockey went past at 80 mph he kicked up so much dust I actually held my shirt over my face so I could breathe. The dust was that bad.

Load was headed to Fallon AFB then two drops up in the Seattle area.

I got to Las Vegas & it was 110 degrees. Pulled in to the J for fuel & on the exit ramp my reefer's red light started flashing. I went into the "secret" stuff that @mndriver thinks company drivers don't know about, ... refrigerant temp was too high & that's why it shut off.

I opened the panels & the condenser was totally plugged up with gravel dust from that lot in Texas. This was a Sunday & the Carrier dealer was closed so I went over to the Blue Beacon & had 'em hit it with the pressure washer. I also slid my 5th wheel back a few holes to get more airflow in there. Didn't have any more problems with it.

Don't get me wrong I like showers and brushing my teeth twice a day. But some showers I've seen, you will come out worse off than when you went in. In that case I skip.

L@@k....Soap and water never hurt anyone matter of fact it is a refreshing experience to get rid of what the body can or will not no longer use....So wash away the smell and dead skin cells. Clean clothing, deodorant can even improve the mood as well as others who come in contact with us.

I look forward to my bath time after a day of work around here. It's my time to unwind and relax.
Oil to the skin does wonders...smell is grand...Deodorant....And my perfume. Clean Clothes.
From time to time I even sprinkle my bed with baby powder under the bottom sheet I am a creature of comfort. Bath time is one of them.

I used to date a guy that didn't want to shower. He said that the funk and stuff created super germs and stuff, said that his body would produce better anti-bodies and he wouldn't get sick.

I should have dumped him then. A week after hooking up with him, I was actually put in the hospital so sick, I had to be put on anti-biotics for 3 months and my tonsils removed. Both my doctor and surgin said I had the worst throat infection they had seen in their entire careers. (And the doc had been practicing medicine for 40 years and volinteered abroad.)
If you see a dirty man, keep your throat to yourself.:confused-96:

guess this is strictly OTR drivers question.
since I do shower everyday, & enjoy being clean every morning before starting work.
BUT
the job I do & depending on weather & chaining up, I could be a pigsty & the truck too! (well dirt/mud...not garbage)
if you're in mud, the chance of the truck being muddy has increased !
only idiots expect a off road truck in off road conditions to be like a OTR highway truck......these fools need to be drug tested!

I prefer showering when I can but the way I run dictates truck stops are few and far between. If I could shower every day but avoid truck stops at the same time life would be peachy

Poll time!

Post here when you see a disgusting driver! Tell us about him or her! Tell us if you are one! Don't worry we won't judge you. And by "we" I mean everyone else on the site. Because I will insult the hell out of you and shame you right into the shower!

Now, for those among us who reek I havesome questions:

Why do you like being that dirty?

Why do you think this is acceptable?

Are you like this all the time, or just on the road?
(pretty sure I know the answer to that...)

That's what I want to know. I'm not trying to get you to change your ways, as it really doesn't affect me, but you have to know, nobody really wants to talk to you, or deal with you in any way. We don't want you in the restaraunt, and I don't care how friendly you are, if your hygiene is poor, get away from me. Oh, I'm sure you don't care what other people think, but to some degree in this business, what other people think actually matters.

Okay, so since I've worked at this big company for the last 2 months or so, I've had the misfortune of running into some pretty freaky drivers. I guess a large company is going to have more of them simply because there are more people.

This company has a bunch of guys who for some reason think it's perfectly acceptable to walk around society unbathed, unshaven, greasy, grimy and just plain foul.

This guy I loaded next to Monday in Chicago was so gross I could literally smell him from the next loading bay. When I pulled up, he came over to talk to me, and his hands were totally grotesque. His jeans needed an oil change, his hair was gross, and I think his shirt looked like he'd rolled around with the pigs. This guys' truck wasn't any better either. All I could see was mostly the outside, but as far as I'm concerned, it was totally unacceptable. I saw part of the drivers side windshield on the inside, and I think this guy actually used a squeegee to clean it once. I asked him if he'd ran all weekend or sat, and he said he'd sat in Lake Station all weekend. WHY DIDN'T HE SHOWER ALL WEEKEND? Oh, he wore his cell phone headset the entire time. I'm pretty sure theres a connection between idiocy and cell phone headset all the time wearers. I'm also sure that in the orientation packet that ATS gave us, they said is was unacceptable to look this way. Also, it's probably a real good thing I'm not in charge on anything. I'd give you one warning, and after that you'd be canned.

Personally, I don't understand it. It simply HAS to be uncomfortable to be that gross all the time. Plus, you add the fact that being that dirty increases the chance of getting sick, and your life on the road is that much more miserable.

Take a bath once in a while. Or at least justify why you don't. Because I don't think you can. Come on pigpen! Give us your reasons for being gross!

Welp Im clean on the surface...

Inside though Im a filthy , disgustiong, no thats puting it lightly...

I have "issues" and I am Gr8ful for once I pulled my head outta my rearend and went to a "meeting" ...

Learned alot and belive it or not I currently have no desire to take a drink.

Infact Im about to fix something to eat and go to bed

Even thinking about getting up early hitting the 8:30 at ZB then the 10:30 at Waukegan.

I want to "live" once again and the onus is upon me to take the "initiative"

I voted on my slipseater's behalf.

Gave my truck a significant Schneider Detail™ and it took half a can of wipes...and still wasn't truly done.

Each day I wipe it before I start and it still takes 2-3 to get the major touch points cleanish.

This is the result of wiping the steering wheel rim after he had it for one shift.

Unfortunately (fortunately for you) I can't show the smell.
