The worst prediction was if we did nothing, and carried on as usual. In that case, the virus spreads exponentially, as it did in Italy.
Social distancing, the lockdown, etc prevented that worst case situation from happening.

Sweden didn’t lock down and they didn’t have exponential growth, how do you rectify that? They did social distancing and isolated the more vulnerable but they never closed business or schools. Italy is very very different than us.

They have the highest covid-19 death rate of any of the surrounding countries. Chances are the Swedish government will pay a heavy political price over this morally repugnant decision.

You cant honestly judge death rate until it over. They will reach herd immunity and the death rate will and is falling. Where as the lockdown countries will still have deaths as they come out of lockdown. Let’s compare numbers again in a month.
There are several interviews with the health minister from Sweden explaining their numbers and reasons. I don’t think there is much political backlash.

False. Their numbers were nearly identical to the ones from the other two Scandinavian countries up until people started pointing that out. Then all of a sudden a few days later there was "revised data" that "proves" that their failure to eliminate freedom and capitalism was responsible for more deaths than Chairman Mao.
I can spot bullshit when I see it.

yeah yeah yeah, we’ve been through this. No one and I mean no one has said that any of these methods will stop the spread just to slow it. I’ve explained this to you before but you can’t seem to grasp it. We can’t keep this economy shut down until there’s a cure so people are going to die. People die every day you can’t stop it.

You said in another thread you wanted the government to stay out of your life. Then in here you want the government to shut everything down. Come on ironphony which is it? You believe their data on lives saved in regards to covid, but not in regards to eld’s.

Let’s see how everyone feels about the deaths of thousands as a result of shutting down and ruining everyone’s lives.
What about the stats coming out of New York? The highest percentage of cases seem to be coming from the people who were staying home. The people who protected themselves and went to work seemed to fair far better than those who were told to just stay home and not wear a mask by these expert medical frauds.

Well admittedly I was unfamiliar with Australia’s response. I looked into it a little and I’ll look more. However there’s a couple things which you conveniently ignore as usual. First this isn’t over so like I told you last night. In a year we can compare numbers and see what worked but in the middle of this is not time to claim victory and it doesn’t appear to me that they are trying to say they did it better so it’s pretty petty of you to do it. Next I read a little and they did a couple things, first the shut down travel earlier than most, something that we couldn’t do politically here if you remember. And second they have been honest with their citizens, the one article I read said that they had pushback at first but after the citizens realized they were being told the truth the complied. Has anyone here been honest? Not that I can tell. There has been constant bickering and playing politics on both sides but the fact is the media and the left have constantly undermined and lied because they are still mad they lost. I’m not trying to be political but if you want to compare countries it’s hard to ignore.
let’s see how this all plays out then we’ll nominate a victor.
The only winning or losing we need to be concerned about is whether we end up playing 2nd fiddle to the Chinese economy when this is all said and done. Folks need to be thinking about this as they complain about having to go back to work.
