Big Cabin Travel Plaza as I said in another thread. It has good sandwiches. It is a good place to stop on my way Northward or Southward the back way, avoiding the longer distance of I-35 and its tolls.

Baker City Corral, in Oregon, seems to be a place I run out of hours all the time. Sometimes you have to be creative in making a parking space. West bound, it is after all the crazy curves in the highway. It is way before Cabbage, sometimes I stop there so I won't hit the scale or Cabbage in the dark, especially in the Winter.

I like that truck stop off exit 243 in Harrisonburg, VA. Just because in the restaurant they often have EXTREMELY HOT waitresses (plus one or two old ugly fatties so they don't get accused of only hiring hot young college girls) and they've got these things called a "beef skillet" or a "chicken skillet".
It's green and red bell peppers, potato chunks, onions, chunks of steak (or chicken) and some really good pepper sauce.

Dysarts, I95 x180? Bangor Maine. VERY good baked beans, clean, nice people. Met one of the guys from American Loggers there. Didn't know it until I saw the show.

I can't recall the exact name, it's on I80 in Avoca Iowa, good food, nice people. All American maybe?
The Pine Cone in Madison Wi. Old time place, good food, good CB radio shop.
The "J" in Nappanee Ontario. Not bad food, but ton's of parking, and decent people to deal with. Actually, typical Ontario.

The one in Avoca, Iowa is at exit 40, and it's called "Wings Travel Center" and I think Pilot just bought it out and ruined it.
There's a truck stop at exit 201 in Iowa, I-80 called Kwik Star or something like that. (There's 2 truck stops there. I'm talking about the one on the south side of the highway, not the Pilot on the north side.) That truck stop has a Pine Cone restaurant, good grubs. I usually get the smothered chicken.

ah the pine cone in sun prarie wi a lot of drivers will fuel at the TA n make their way down the street for some real eats only thing that bites bout the pine cone is the intersection configuration trying to get back on 90-94 is a hassle n come wintertime they don't seem to plow well around that area for some reason
On typical ontario sure don't see what the big gripe is about canucks
Most cabadian drivers I ever met were nice genuine people who often have charecteristics we americans lost decades agoabit different dialect but good people
Perhaps its the thought they're taking american jobs

There's still a few places in the US where you really don't know what side of the border you're on. At least here, and as far north as I am, it's still somewhat that way. I grew up on the border, watched channel 9, went across the river at least twice a month to play with friends over there, etc.
The thought you mentioned, is just that. I was with CFI, my first big company. I noticed everytime I came off hometime, I was sent to the Toronto area with a load. After the first couple or three times, I asked why. The answer was because "We know you don't mind". Come to find out,there were many CFI drivers that would do anything to keep from going to a "foreign" country. I couldn't believe it. It made zero sense to me. The terminal manager heard the dispatcher and I talking, and came over to talk as well. He floored me, he asked me if I would like to be on the little known, Canadian fleet. My answer? HELL yes.
Anyway, there are cabotage laws to prevent a "foreign" driven from taking jobs from native drivers on either side of the border. You can take a load in, and a load out, but you can't reload and deliver in the country.
I'd drop my load where ever, then pickup another load and bring it back to the US, drop it, then grab another one going to Ca. The Canadian drivers do the same here. It's a reciprocal thing. If more drivers would cross the border, they'd see that no one, is stealing jobs from anyone. I won't say the "cabotage" laws are not broken, there's always a bad actor somewhere, but it's no where near as prevalent as some would think. I hope I haven't opened up a can of worms here, this can be a touchy subject. BTW, I can only speak for the northern US border, the south is a whole different animal. I don't think I'd be crossing that one, I really don't.:tiphat:

I delivered at the catsup plant there and never could find the T/S. IIRC, that town is laid out sorta funny.:shootself:
Jubitz has got the greatest showers anywhere. The late night parking can get a little toght, but everything else there is awesome.

I made it to the Iowa 80 a couple months back for the first time. I found it amazing!!! I made sure to grab a few things from the gift shops and had a pretty good dinner at the buffet.

An observation I've made about that place is that drivers have differing opinions about it. You'll find an equal amount of people who hate the place as you will who like it. I avoid it most of the time simply because it's not a quick-top kind of place. Pulling reefers, most of the time with Tyson loads, we're given just enough time to get somewhere, plus 10 hours per 11 hrs drive time required at a 60 mph average. (They say they plan our loads around a 50 mph average but that only happens if the illegal aliens happen to get the trailers loaded on time, which happens about maybe 5% of the time.)
But in the unlikely event I'm near Walcott when the red light on my e-logs thing is flashing, I'll take a 10 hr break there. Time wasted making the 37 mile walk to and from the building won't come out of my 14.
Larry the Cable Guy made an "only in America" episode there, but I doubt the film crew had to park in the back and walk past 14,000 trucks then up 6 flights of stairs just to use the bathroom.
Most of the time, since my loads usually come out of the Sioux City area, it's lunch time when I'm passing by Iowa 80. I'll stop at the Pirate across the street and grab some Arby's, then get the hell out of there and eat while driving. I can afford a 15 minute lunch break to run in to Arby's but if they have slow employees and it ends up taking 20-25 minutes, I'll have to keep the hammer down for about 3 hours to make up for it.
LOL. If you pull reefers, and your company starts hauling Tyson loads, it's time to start looking for a different company, unless you have paper logs and a fast truck. They have zero tolerance for late deliveries even though the illegal immigrants they employ in their packing plants rarely ever get a truck loaded on time.

The company we work for is about a slow as molasses in the winter time. Sitting here in NC waiting to hear back form our PM dispatcher, which she wont . the load we came to pick , well , the paperwork is not to be found, nor is it in any of the empty trailers they have here. Sent two messages, prior to it i chewed her butt for having us sit. So, after sitting last week for 9 days babysitting a broken down truck, I can say I am done with the company. We team drive and since Friday til now, we have done 1289 miles. doesn't begin to make the house payment.
With that said, guess one can see why we had time to visit Iowa 80.. Still my favorite place ..

Planeview, so named due to it's proximity to the Oshkosh airport, home of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). I've never tried to sleep there, not sure if the aircraft noise would be a problem. But it was our one and only fuel stop on a dedicated run I was on back in 2005, going back and forth non-stop between OshKosh, Milwaukee and Toledo hauling Bax Global "air" freight for Covenant Transport.

The Tennessean in Cornersville,TN off of I65.I stay there a few days ago for the first time and i'll do it again and again.They have a nice pet park which Tiny loved.Their laundry is cheap and gets the clothes nice and cleanThey have real good BBQ sandwiches.I got the pops bbq,it was so good I got 2 sandwiches.Free hi speed wify.The staff could'nt have been any nicer.Their TV room has a big screen tv built into the wall.This place deffinately likes and values truckers.
