Worst truckstop ever?

MODERATOR UPDATE (March 2026):
This thread still shows up in searches for “worst truckstop ever”, so I’m refreshing the opener to make it more useful for today’s drivers. The original 2007 question is preserved at the bottom for context.

If you’re adding a new answer in 2026, please include as much detail as possible so other drivers can avoid bad stops.

Reply format (copy/paste):

  • Truck stop name:
  • City/State (and exit/highway if you know it):
  • What made it the worst (be specific):
  • Category: Parking / Bathrooms-Showers / Safety / Prices / Staff / Food / Other
  • Was it a one-time bad day, or always like that?:
  • Any tips for drivers passing through?:
Bonus: Drop your pick for the best truck stop too (and why). Let’s balance it out.

Alright, I want to hear it.

In your experience, what’s the worst truckstop ever… and why?

I’m not talking about “it was busy.” I mean the kind of place you pull into and immediately think: never again.

I’m especially interested in the stuff that actually affects your day and your safety:

  • sketchy parking situations / towing / boots
  • filthy bathrooms or showers
  • theft, harassment, aggressive panhandling
  • crazy pricing
  • rude staff or long fuel lines
  • food that should be illegal
If you reply, use the format above so it’s easy to read and compare.

Where’s the one place you refuse to stop again?

Original 2007 question:
In your experience, what’s the worst truckstop you've ever been to and why?

Bumping this one back up since drivers are still finding it.
If you’ve got a “never again” truck stop, drop the name + city/state and what made it the worst.

If you want to make your answer extra helpful, include:

  • parking situation (tight lot, towing/booting, pay-to-park games)
  • bathrooms/showers
  • safety issues (theft, harassment, sketchy lot)
  • prices
  • staff/service
  • food
And for balance: what’s the best truck stop you’ve been to lately, and why?
