Where is Mike? Where is he going? Don't ask him, he's probably lost.

It would be cool if you could program it to bump the water temp up to 160 for a couple hours in the middle of the night, once every 2 weeks to kill the "harmless" bacteria that eats the magnesium anode and makes egg smelling stink bubbles.
I'd crank it up for my dishes and back down for my showers.

I can only have a small capacity water heater due to the elevated platform it has to be on, and the fact the basement was dug out by hobbits. There are 10 foot ceilings downstairs and 8 foot upstairs but in the basement, the floor joists are so low I have to walk around hunched over like Quasimodo or I'll bounce my head off of them.

Default temp is 120°F and it would run cold if I stayed in the shower too long.

I bumped it to 140° and I have yet to run out of hot water during a shower. Just gotta learn how to adjust the knobs differently.

Who says they force him to watch My Little Pony?

Maybe hes studying up so he can post to their forums and go to the annual Brony convention.

There used to be one where he compared one with Osama Bin Laden.

I trolled a food/cooking forum once. My character was "Duner" and the picture was Steven Wright with long hair and a blank expression.

I made a thread for Duner's possum stew. Said the recipe was perfected while working on a chain gang at a Louisiana state pen.

"Tire tracks are a great way to tenderize the meat but I recommend softening it up with a couple of tire irons prior to skinning it."

I included a picture of one of those old bath tubs with legs, with a wood fire underneath.

They left that thread alone for like 5 years before the whole site went offline. It had like 500 likes on it but not a single reply.

Fuck You San Antonio. That's one of an already limited amount of Gymnastics meets to be cancelled this year. This one by order of the City of San Antonio.

Some of the kids, very talented kids, have already dropped out of gymnastics. Some because the kids are losing interest in practicing 5-6 hours per day, every day, others because the high monthly costs of being in this sport.

It's a short window of competitive years even for the best of them, and this nonsense is killing the hopes of many of these kids.

As it stands, we are still on for Southaven, MS next weekend, and Des Moines the week after that, but now it will be dead time from the 16th until Valentines week, where we are supposed to be going to another event in either Texas or Oklahoma, I forget which one is that week.

Anyhow, down from 5 meets to 4 meets total for the year. A year when they are considering moving Sarah from level 6 to level 8 (skipping level 7 this year). To do this, she has to compete in an at least one even this year at level 7. Not sure what a severely limited schedule will do to all of this.

Again, Fuck You San Antonio.

So,

I did one of those DNA testing things, got it as a Christmas present. 23 and Me. Been wanting to do this for quite a while now.

The ongoing joke in my house, given how snow white I am, is that I will turn out to be from Africa. Well, it turns out I am more African than Elizabeth Warren is Indian. I checked in at 0.4%.

The bulk of my DNA takes me to Europe, which I knew would be the case. Mom always told me I was made up of German, Irish, and Dutch.

Turns out, 56.7% of me is British and Irish, but it leans more toward the UK. I did not expect that.

19% Scandinavian. Denmark and Norway to be exact.

12.1% French and German, most of that being from France.

11.6% Broadly Northwestern European

0.2% Broadly European.

Those last to seem to be a catch all from way back tracings.

So, yeah, I'm 99.6% European

Checking relatives, found out I have a 4th cousin that lives in the North Pole. I guess I am related to Mrs. Clause or some elf. Didn't know real people actually lived there.

And, of course, my niece. Only person on the list that I actually know. Had no idea that she had done this.

I think I will likely do ancestry.com as well pretty soon to see if I have any relatives that I might know in that system.

I got the health option. It says I have the muscle structure of a power athlete. Only health concern found was a slight chance at a vision problem.

Now, pardon me while I go learn one of my native languages, Swahili.
So, almost two years to the day after doing this, we received a phone call. Turns out, I have another sister. I found out that the person I thought was my father all of my life (whom I never met) was not my father. Turns out, my father, sister, and a niece lived about 10 miles from me all of my life until I moved away from Texas.

Too late to meet my biological father, as he passed in 2017, but I will be able to meet my sister pretty soon. We were initially planning to meet somewhere around April, but since they are currently in Laughlin, I have a load booked that takes me across 40 into California, so if time is on my side the next couple days, I will be able to meet her for at least a little while this week.

There is a really long and complicated story behind this, but not something I really want to share online at this point. Maybe later, but for me at least, this answers a ton of questions that I have had all of my life, while bringing up a couple more that will never be answered.

I don't think I was this nervous stepping off the bus at Marine Corps boot camp.

Are you sure they want to meet YOU?

Seems like you're making a lot of assumptions here...

Good for you Mike. I think that is pretty cool.

Having been adopted at an early age, despite the fine upbringing that I had with my parents, I have always been a bit curious.
