Where Are You Parked Tonight? Check-In Thread

At that age my dad was well known. He fixed anything and everything to do with coal or logging for miles and miles around. I always had lots of toys to play with. He would've loved seeing this.
Wait until they grow up though..

About JR High School is when they really start "Hanging" with "Wrong Crowd"..

Everything I taught my "Son" went completely Out the Window after our Divorce..

Then it was Court Ordered I had "Visitation" Rights from a Judge ..

Now "Later" on I actually "Re-Connected" with My "EX" in that we were "Both" Scared" 2 Death when we went down to the Sheriff's Department he had abuncha "Pills"..

I put up 5 Grand "My Ca$h" get enough a "Lawyer" for a "Plea Bargain" no Jail Time and keep it "Clean" 5 years Court Records "Sealed"..

His Momma "Kicked" him outta the house about 21/22 ..

Didn't even Call me just knew where I lived and knocking on my Door..

What am I gonna put my Own Child out in the "Cold"..

That was "actually" what I should've "Done"..

Instead I let him move into the "Guest" Bedroom..

Then I "ignored" the "Problem" thought maybe "Someday" he'd GROW UP..

Now he'S "DEAD" an OVERDOSE..

I cannot help but 2 "Feel" had he went 2 Jail or I had told him No go sleep under an "Overpass" he "Might" actually still be "Alive" Today had he hadda "Toughen" Up instead..

When I was growing up my grandfather had a construction company, specialized in drainage.
When we were there my Dad would wake me up at some ungodly hour like 4 or 5 am to go with grandad to the job site because he knew I loved all those big machines.
He owned a few COE trucks and an RGN to move equipment. I love riding in the trucks and when they were parked I would just stare at them and check them out. I loved the smell of grease for some reason.

He had two tile laying machines that Great-grandfather built and held the patents to the design.

To make a short story long... as a boy I loved all them big trucks and machines and how they were incredibly loud!

Took my small boy on a short landoll call yesterday. We loaded up a big ugly mess of masonry stuff and their forklift I walked him through running the trailer and he actually helped a lot. He said he liked that way more than door swinging and who can blame him? View attachment 87107View attachment 87108
It's good that you let him get a hands on experience.

Before I got my license I went on a ride-along with my uncle who was hauling steel. When we got to our destination he handed me a pair of work gloves and said no one rides for free. He told me what he needed me to do and I did it.
It was a good learning experience.

My dad was the same way. He worked for himself so I was going to work with him almost every day from the time I could walk.

I don't really remember it but he was telling me about one time I was about 3 or 4. We were at a coal tipple and he was working under a dozer. Not far away was about a 100 foot drop off. I was the kind of kid that was trustworthy enough you could lay a loaded gun on the coffee table say don't touch that and that was the end of it.

He said some safety dick came around trying to tell me I had to stay in the truck. I told him my dad said I don't HAVE to stay in no truck and you ain't my dad. The guy buggered off and never said another word. Guess he figured if the boy will talk to him like that he didn't want dad coming out from under that dozer.

I've taken both my kids to work quite a bit but that was the younger feller's first taste of deck work. Hell, he can float gears better than some licensed drivers I've seen.

He hooked chains did binders and portables even rolled up some straps. I let him run the trailer with me telling him how. Only kicked the release plate once but that was mostly my fault watching him more than listening for air coming out of the bags on the truck. He did really good for 7. I was impressed.

I wish I knew what to say that would ease your pain. I have no magical words.

You can run the re-play every day and I am sure we all do that with some part of our lives or choices we made.

I know in some cultures they do not run the re-play but we are not them.

All you can do is accept that which is…

And that which is not.

Unexpected weekend at home allowed me to scrounge up equipment to cut the grass for the first time ever. Wife and I picked up a 5.5 acre Woodlot that’s had no upkeep so to speak in 6 years.

My "heaviest" was back at the Grain Elevator just shy of 88 Thousand Pounds of Corn although in only a 40 Footer Timpte

I was too lazy to Dump some out and "Reweigh" especially during Harvest Season when there's long lines for scale and the dump pits because Farmers bringing their own stuff in to Sell

I'd knew how to go around and completely "Avoid" the Scalehouses so I'd fill the hopper all the way and roll with it to the ethanol plant

Was on my way from "CSW" in Madison Wisconsin to a Walmart DC near Tulsa but my Reefer died and won't fire up again..

Just got off the phone with 24 hour Maintenance Issues guy and "Enroute" to Quality Services in Des Moines Iowa they got 24 hour service..
