What are the benefits of replacing kingpins??

For alignment and suspension issues I use Alignment Solutions in Kansas City. The proprietor is an absolute master at curing these issues.

He's hooked up with a repair shop under the same roof that can frequently get you in and out in one day. Depending on the issue, of course.

If I start getting irregular tire wear, I find a way (load) to swing by.

I was replacing spring bushings every year or two a ways back. Chad Hohn found a bushing that used a neoprene insert instead of rubber that stock Freightliner parts come with. Solved the problem - its going on three years now since they've been in.

The repair shop is Chris' T & E Service Co. They provide excellent service at reasonable prices. Chris Gordon manages it.

I heartily recommend these guys, and am sure that anyone who takes their truck to their shop will agree that they do excellent work.

Some of you guys need to dial back on the damn drama!
.003 tolerance?
Ok, if that's what the mfg says but it's not like your damn front end is going to fly apart at .005...
Or .10...
Or even much higher.

I've owned 15 or 20 trucks, all but 2 were well used when I bought them used.
A handful were nearly 2 million miles when I got rid of them.

I've never replaced kingpins on a truck unless it might have been the first one and I don't recall. I do recall that I spent a pile of money on that truck by doing everything that the ship told me I ought to do...
Because I was young n dumb.
;)

You peckerwoods are going to have the newbs crapping themselves every time they hit a pothole.

More like common sense. I know a king pin has never broke while the truck is being driven down the road. And I'd bet that there has been very few if any that has broke in a crash.

It sounds like you want to argue.

We had one break in one of our trucks at QC a few years back, the truck was totaled.

What about the driver?
Walked back to the yard and threw the keys at the shop foreman. Steering had a shake at certain speeds and when braking. Had complained about it multiple times, even the dealer was saying nothing was wrong.

He was bobtailing on a two lane over to the chemical plant to pick up his trailer when it let go.

Yikes. Glad he was okay enough to be pissed.

Been fine.

Make sure they tighten your bearings correctly. I've had seven 3-axle alignments done in four different shops and always had funny wear on my right steer.

Even measured the bearing play myself twice and two other mechanics do it. Came back correct each time.

Finally in May I pulled the hub apart only to find out it wasn't preloaded like it was supposed to be. Finally got rid of any wear and vibration issues.

Spent way more money getting it to this point than it should of.

Been told I needed u-joints, a power divider, motor mounts etc.

Not happy with a lot of people.
Wow thanks for the info

An obvious case of sabotage.
I find in favor of the defendant and sentence the plaintiff to 300 hours community service picking up pee bottles along the highway.

BAILIFF!
NEXT CASE!
