We've exhausted the ELD subject...right?

I've mentioned the "facial recognition" device to be stuck in your mug to tell you if you are too tired to drive, which I thought the ELD was already taking care of.... maybe I am misunderstanding... and the ELD does NOT tell you when to shut down...

Now, Michigan gets a whole year to start roadside drug-testing without reasonable-suspicion....and it's a saliva test, not a piss test. There is a difference, and if you don't know what it is, look it up.

So, my question is this: "What's next?"

A government agent climbing in the truck with you to hold a gun on you and record every time you fart... and if it stinks enough.. maybe create a filter... Fart Particulate Filter... government mandated.... WTF?

We are not going to be able to drive down the roads hauling people's **** and enjoy any part of our lives.

I don't have anything to hide as far as drug-testiing, but that's just one more thing, one more stop, one more annoying issue... that will in turn feed itself into another annoying issue.

Total control, except that they haven't found a way to hold the wheel yet.

If I had a government agent riding with me, (surely he would not hold a Class A and even if he did, he would be "that guy" who didnt have to have any experience) ... I would just jump in the sleeper and say "you drive, *****"

and get it there on time, and be nice to the receivers, because they aren't going to act like your best friend.... (like you have any)
The couple that were killed in the Michigan wreck, were killed by a "Stick Hauler" who had THC in his blood. Michigan set to begin roadside drug testing pilot program
No, we have not exhausted the ELD subject, It's alive and breathing well.
electronic logs

I'm a day cabbie so I don't get the long ones, but $92 for sipping coffee and getting some walking exercise with my headphones in ain't bad either.

Other drivers think I'm crazy for volunteering for Wakefern. I'm like...I'll take free money. That's a paid break.
Ahhhh..isn't wakefern union???

I came across an article from a well respected trucking paper(on the tip of my tongue..damm) that basically said that with the new regs on Elogs The DOT will be able to (not saying they will..)audit your logs and give out violations like speeding between stops even if you haven't done ANYTHING wrong.
cardinal contracted with some 3rd party entity to check paper logs. They were writing people up for speeding BETWEEN their stops..In almost 30 yrs in this bis.I've never heard of S... like this being done. This is what everyone needs to start paying attention too.imho.Peace out

They have always been able to get you for speeding and /or falsification by taking the mileage between points and comparing it to your log.

Yea but, remember back in the 90's when those 4 states were doing Randoms on that pilot program, and if you didn't submit you got shut down for 8 hrs..and not one peep from the shippers or the receivers..yeah good times:frown::frown:

I was always led to believe that it was just your overall trip, not the inbetween stops.and I'm just finding out about this now..That's embarrassing wow

I know the Cortez scale in Co used to do it, and the scales in Florida were notorious if someone walked in with a 'tude.

"4 hours Miami to Wildwood driver? Which ticket would you like speeding or lying?" ~quote one afternoon to another driver while I was getting my overweight ticket.

Excellent!:thumbsup::cool:

Exhibit A for why driver wages are flat or low. Case Rested You Honor.

Yes. That's why it takes so long and costs so much for unloads.

The upshot is they had a really good pasta truck that came around with hot meals and not super expensive.
Are you talking about Elizabeth NJ? I think they get a cut of those sales. Take longer to unload, make drivers hungry, sell food, profit. Lmao

They disappointed me a couple days ago. Only took an hour and a half from start to finish. So I only got an extra $9. Woopty doo.

Breinigsville took about two and a half tonight so that's about $27. Disappointing again but better than nothing.

Beats the hell out of warehousing. I made $560 a week and only when I wasn't so beat that I didn't volunteer for time off that's offered when it's slow. That was including shift differential. When it's a shopping season, EVERYONE works overtime or gets fired. You might see $900 those weeks.

If I make $560 in a week now it's because I didn't really do anything. The $900 is a light, short week.

For someone so pedantic you comprehension seems off. Reread what I quoted of his post and think about why wages are lower in the industry.

Folks will take a paper log $.36/mile job because they can make more than a $.40/ mile elog job.

Drivers are their own worst enemy.

If drivers can't make money useing elogs then it's time to find a different company.Getting the miles starts with the load planners.Problem is most companies aren't consistant, mainly the mega carriers. If folks would do the math they're working alot harder with paper logs if they're cheating and actually making less.Forget that, drive for a good consistent company and you'll do good on elogs.
