Even if they built more nuclear plants, the grid is badly antiquated. They'd need to rewire the entire country.

But I imagine the tree huggers just assume that flying unicorns will land on top of every utility pole and fart rainbows that will magically energize the wires.

Then with all the "wars for oil" ended and "climate change" prevented, all of the children of the world can come together and hammer their weapons into plow shares and sing "We Are The World".



At least that's how I interpreted the TV commercials for the Prius when they first came out.

I read some article the other day that was in support of nuclear power. After explaining the safeguards put in place to prevent another Chernobyl or a Three Mile Island, it said that all of the radioactive nuclear waste produced by all of America's nuclear plants since the form of energy was discovered, is "only" a volume that will fill a football field 75 feet high.

Only,... like that's a minuscule amount of this extremely dangerous, death & cancer and mutation causing material that remains dangerous until the end of time as far as we're concerned..

Accidents and disposal are the only things holding back nuke plants. Otherwise they're the best bang for the buck.
