Vaping like a skinny jeans wearing, man bun sporting, beard having, murse carrying hipster tool.

I know many people who just decided one day...they were done.

I've not been so fortunate.

Call me weak in that area...I gotta do something while driving besides just...drive.

It's always been something. Back in the 90's it was crazy amounts of audiobooks. Gum chewing. Gobstoppers.

Who the hell can do this boring ass job and do NOTHING...but drive?

Gotta have the personality of a doorknob I bet.

Kinda folks that farm most of the time, and wear bib overalls, and when you tell them the funniest joke ever...they just...stare at you...

@Duck knows about this. We've talked about it.

I've had cravings for 6 months to a year after quitting.

I've heard nicotine is similar to heroin in brain reactions, and similar to chocolate in overeaters.

You don't know everyone's situation, or their triggers.

What works for you may not work for others.

Where the hell is @DrDaliah ??

Sorry took a vacation. Didn't get tan.

True nicotine is one of the easiest drugs to become addicted to. And vaping will encourage the addiction more unless you are weaning off. The latest with vaping came out yesterday where it kills healthy cells in the mouth within the first month....even the toothpaste flavored e-cigs......

Dr, I decided to look into this, and the study was not very clear on the actual testing methods as far as what chemicals were in said e-cigs they used in the test, or who manufactures them... It also didn't t list who funded the study, which is a little suspect.

I consider vaping to be harm reduction, not elimination. I understand that it isn't 100% safe, and have never claimed such, nor has any of the companies that sell vape products.

Just some food for thought.

Ingesting chemicals, no way that can be good for you.

Not ingesting but inhaling...but we get it.

Nobody is claiming 100% safety here.

A guy on Minnesota NPR yesterday said it was akin to falling out of a building from the 20th floor rather than the 50th, but that to me seemed a little much - along with lots of other things he'd said that were quite biased.

All of this spurred by Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin support for the vaping industry.

This whole thing is gaiNing a LOT OF high profile attention very quickly...

At least we know what the dangers of cigarettes are.

For all we know the vape stuff could be as harmful as inhaling mercury.

They didn't used to know the dangers of smoking either. It WAS for a time advertised as healthy.

I've heard that the vaporizing process can create formaldehyde, but haven't seen anything substantive to prove it.

well at the very least, one can "self embalm" themselves, and be ready for thier own wake/funeral..!!!

NPR,really?
Are they even relevant anymore?

Hunter, do you have any quantifiable evidence to support that? Also, nicotine isn't that bad of a chemical.

nope, & nicotine is not a 100% safe ingredient to ingest into your body anyway. to say vaping is safer than smoking a cig, is like saying chewing tobacco is safer than smoking :confused-96: or the idiot realm walking in front of a speeding car is safer & better for your health than walking in front of a speeding truck
even go off path from tobacco a tad, bring up BBQ - if you consume a lot of smoked meats or do a lot of BBQ'ing with charcoal you are increasing your health issues as if you smoked cigarettes ( raised blood pressure, consume toxins/smoke & even breath it while BBQ'ing )
don't get me wrong BBQ'ing & smoking with charcoal has the best taste !

Its healthier than smoking simply because there are not 7000 various chemicals in every drag. Aresenic, rat poison....

I guess that depends on what tobacco (brand) you smoked, if you smoked natural tobacco then no chemicals just nicotine & smoke. "American Spirit" only had the paper its rolled in with chemical that would extinguish the cig if left burning over time ( just like every other brand too by law ) other than that no chemicals just plain ol' tobacco.

It also helps to know that a lot of the anti-vaping info out there is likely to be released by the tobacco industry itself, because they are losing tons of money, and likely will not successfully penetrate the vaping market, nor will most former smokers return to actual cigarettes, though I do know one person that did...and why I don't know.

you do know that a lot of that anti- tobacco ads are paid for by tobacco companies because of the lawsuits several years ago which they " HAVE " to do no matter what type of tobacco product.

funny thing I also hear different from some people, vaping cant give you a true smoke feeling, period !
some will vape and mix it up with a real smoke.

Just quit. Seriously.

Take that pack on the desk next to you and throw it in the trash, then quit.

Do not try, do not play the "I'm cutting back" self delusional bull ****.

Quit. You either smoke or you do not. So the question is do you have the discipline to control your own mind and body.

I have no idea why someone makes such a big f'ing deal about it.

I'm 50/50 with you.
what you posted I agree with you 100%, if you have the strong will to kick the habit, then it shouldn't be any issues.
though most times when that comes into play is a life waking up moment, be it health issue or your kid(s)

aside from that I also agree most people need to wean themselves off tobacco & habit. also at the same time be firm in your goal but I also understand some days early on " that day its not working " (why I carried a unopened pack as back up :D ) & could go through phases in couple months.
towards the end I was firm & said that's it ! & came to my last pack lasted couple days & enjoy every cig & took special care to enjoy my very last cig every drag :D

aside of quiting cold turkey.
if you have true desires to quit & discipline to do so, then less than 3 months wouldn't be any problem.
if not then you don't want to quit smoking !
& always watch out for that trigger & be strong because it could bring you back to smoking.

I quit smoking for a year and a half, tried vaping just for laughs, and after six months was fully addicted to nicotine again. Was so mad at myself and hated to go through the process of quitting again (nothing worse).

Just a warning to those out there who think it's harmless... stick to chewing seeds to pass the time!!
