Time to lift emergency hours-of-service waiver?

Heavy going by my Guage and wasn't sure..

Was within 140 pounds on my trailer but 300 over on my steers..

Sliding 5th wheel is a REAL B-Word too

So you went around because you didn't want to do the work. Definitely wasn't the same situation as me.

Honestly, I would have crossed the scales at 140 over, nothing to worry about there, nor would I be worried about the 300 on the steers. I go over at about 12800 on the steers all the time. I have the truck to do it, but they don't know that without looking and they never look.

That's one of the downsides of a long nose. No matter how far forward that fifth wheel is my steers will never be over 11k. On some loads this can present "challenges".

If they really wanted to go by the Science the Mandatory 10 Hour Break contributes to Driver Obesity and Alcoholism.

Ya see most "Normal" people only sleep 4/5/6 hours ...

The rest of that time Drivers are stuffing their faces watching television or they go in the store and buy beer..

Or me just sitting here slamming Coffee and I'll be dead tired later running through a big city when I was good enough to go now.

I'm also stuffing myself full of Junk Food outta boredom
No.

Most people don't adopt terrible habits and tell themselves it's normal.

Most people take the job seriously and are somewhat decent at it. Most people do not tear up equipment all the time and blame everything else.

Regarding trucking you are every example of what NOT to be. Frankly I wish you were not on the highway.

Desperation.

Pure and simple.

Notice how you were treated upon returning. It wasn't exactly a warm welcome. The reason is because most people didn't want you back. But they likely lost the argument with someone above them.

And they'd rather not lose a customer, so they need freight moving. @Mike as a single truck can wildcat freight. Whole companies with established customers cannot. Losing even one account can be a death knell for a company.

44cpm is a cheap driver these days. They can give an unreliable driver loads with no serious deadlines and run him cheap. They'll give the reliable drivers more money to run the important stuff.
