Walk around with a clean logboook.... but it doesn't reflect your EVERY move like the law states that it should. Who spends that much time in their sleeper berth? Who stops the second they are "out of hours?" Who takes their fifteen and thirty minute breaks? If you had to stop where your logbook say's you have to stop, you can easily be screwed in a residential area where there is no truck parking. Logbooks have tons of "gray areas" as do your unique daily driving situations. Tell me of ONE single DOT cop in a scale that looks at your logbook and believes what he is reading..... unless, of course, you are of the "E-log" crowd.... which I am not. The day E-logs are mandated is the day the trucking industry takes its final dive. People order shit. They want it yesterday. Nobody can afford warehousing. It is what it is. I say, just like Clint Eastwood did so many years ago: " A man's got to know his limitations..." ~ this, to me, means: Dont push the envelope, but don't fall short of it either. If you are an O.O. ... you have a lot of pressure up your ying-yang to make ends meet... and that basically means that you don't stop rolling, you dont stop loading and you don't sit at home while your truck loses money. Be safe, but not broke and stressed about how you are going to make ends meet this month. ... and hope you don't break down. Bruce from Pittsburg Power can't be there for everyone.... can he?
