These guys offered me a job the other day.

If I was to be a company driver again, and one of their terminals was near me or my location allowed me regular hometime, they would be on my radar. Only reason I left Crete was because I was moving from Texas and "thought" I had landed a good local job.

What was the local job?

Shuttling a set of doubles from Little Rock to where I lived in South Arkansas every night. the 2nd part of the job was supposed to be loading trailers for a little while each night to supplement the income.

Shuttling the doubles and loading my two trailers paid me about $800/week. Adding a little time loading additional trailers would get me to $1200-$1400/week. The additional trailer loading didn't happen due to racism being a bit of an issue at that warehouse. Got to the point where I wasn't even loading my own trailers anymore after multiple altercations in the warehouse and I bailed. It was a fight I wasn't going to win.

Definitely sounds like it wasn't worth it.

Shete has a terminal near me but I never hear anything about them good or bad. But they must have been going well during that can't-fail blitz a couple years ago because they built a brand new bigger facility on fresh ground and I don't think a single inch of it is unpaved.

Crete pulls our groceries out of Mankato.

Marten pulls our groceries out of Tomah.

After every blizzard we have to shift capacity to help cover Mankato.

Thats rarely the case for Tomah.

Two different states. Maybe Wisconsin takes care of the roads better.

Minnesota uses beet juice and makes everything worse. 😉

Marten are arrogant. When I first got my CDL I asked if they take new drivers and they snottily said "2 years minimum. Click."

Well fark you and your ugly ass unwashed trucks too.

I figured they took new people because the advertised pay wasn't that great. Made more at US Xpress with a half mile commute.

Yeah they are. They think Tomah is their terminal. Not that they're under contract and it's temporary.

They are blissfully unaware of how many DCs that private fleet has taken over in the past few years.

I just chuckle to myself.
