The War Path

Need a rear wheel drive car with a long hood & short trunk so the drivers seat is towards the rear. Like a Corvette but with a 4 cylinder. Too front-heavy & powerful and it's too touchy in snow. Console shift and a regular D, 2, 1 not any of that newer crap.

Perfect vehicle for doing donuts in snow.

So basically my day cab.

Priui' are rear wheel drive?

Geezer's Miazda is stick shift. Not fun in snow. Can't two-foot it.
Well yeah, if it has a small lightweight engine and the driver's seat is located towards the rear. o_O
All you need to do is heel and toe.

Well, wait a minute, maybe that might not work.....

Came to a quiet little truck stop out in the middle of nowhere, no engine sounds except one reefer clear across the parking lot.

Then a flatbedder with a W9 pulls in next to me and high-idles the whole time, fan kicking on and off constantly..
Nope, not BW9. He hates wasting fuel and last night was perfect sleeping weather.

Anyhow, Brother is still sitting there on high idle. I wonder what kind of fuel economy he gets..

I'm idling all weekend too, because it's 95 and sunny, and cooling right off to 80 at night.

2 regens so far, both in the morning when I wake up.

Maybe this guy is idling in 60° Washington weather to cool your truck off for you. Considerate, no?

I was gonna do the math, on the amount of hours, and cost of fuel and idling vs. the Days Inn next door, but I doubt my boss will buy a room.

Some truck owners get an allergic reaction to the word "hotel", no matter how rational it might be.

Besides, fuck em.

Once you get with WalMart, it'll be a non-issue.

When I was flatbedding with a large car, it was never that good. There's a lot working against you for decent MPG. Irregular shaped loads, the "brick" design of the truck, even the spread axle works against you. But idling in 60 degree weather is pretty dumb.

I used to idle the truck in any weather, Simply because it became white noise to me and no one ever was looking at fuel economy.
When I got with a company that offered a fuel bonus and the truck was outfitted with a battery powered APU all of that changed.

I also realized I was getting a poor quality of rest due to the vibrations when idling the truck.

I only ever got a hotel a couple of times while on the road. It probably cost the same as idling the truck but the owner saves the wear and tear.
pretty sweet to have a T.V. where the signal does not get broken up and have access to a bathroom.

I made a few hotel rookie mistakes. Once I ordered Dominoes pizza, The second time in Detroit was an exact change, credit or debit Subway sammich in Detroit

Last week I tool a 4 dollar Tombstone original sausage pizza, added shreddar cheese, raw (not canned) mushrooms, green onion and some black pepper before I ovened it at 400° for 17 minutes.

It was like a whole different pizza. Really good.

And of course, Mrs Duck hated it.
Everything except the mushrooms sounds delicious.

Sautéed mushrooms are good.

Little bit of butter in a cast iron skillet. Melt it & tossing in purple onion slices and raw portobello mushrooms.

Good stuff.

I made smothered chicken a few weeks ago.

Bacon placed raw on top of the raw chicken & cooked that way in the oven. Meanwhile I Sautéed purple onion and mushrooms in a skillet.

When the chicken was just barely done I put the onions n mushrooms on it, coated it with colby-jack cheese and put it back in the oven til the cheese was melted.

Yummy yummy.
