You keep bringing up the 16. The rest of us are talking about the 15.He's lucky. His cargo insurance will only have to fight to avoid paying for half a load and not a full load.
You are allowed. I was only putting 750 to the ground with the 'B'.
I had 4 trucks with the C-15, 500 & 550 and one with the C-16 600. I still say the 'B' would out perform the 16 out West. It walked up the Rockies, with 200k gross like nothing. The 16 just didn't have the grunt, even with a mild tune to the ECM. I never put it on a dyno, but the torque value of the 16 was just 150 ft pds less than the B. It pulled the best at the bottom end as long as you didn't have the pedal all the way down. It would cool off if you did.
Gearing, trans ratio, has a lot to do with it too!
The 3406s I drove weren't strong enough to get out of their own way.
The truck I'm in at the moment has a 6NZ C15, pre-emissions. CAT and most industry insiders say the C15 is built from 3406 technology, but is a big improvement in both efficiency and longevity. This has been thus far the least maintenance intensive engine I have driven. Hands down. It has nearly 2M miles on it.
