The War Path

Why? This Shaker gets just as piss poor fuel economy as any 379 tries to get.
Cuz they had one for 9 months last year I was thunkin' about gittin'.

And in January when I went to pull the trigger, it had sold the previous week.

He was saying they were expecting another one this spring.

I haven't been able to get ahold of the sales guy to find out if it showed up.

Wait. Freightliner made real trucks?
No one's made a real truck since about 1985 then for that matter with the end of the 359 and W9A model.
Every generation has their own definition of what is a "real truck".

Every time I hear old timers reminiscing about the old school diesels shooting flames out the stacks and how cool they were, I remember they're talking about engines with 350 hp or less that required constant maintenance and frequent overhauls and were lucky to get 3 mpg Today,... er..... A decade ago we had 500+ hp and roughly a ton of torque getting 7 mpg for a million miles without any major repairs needed.

But they didn't throw flames out the stacks so I guess they weren't "real".

I do think they need to ban power steering and re-manify the driver pool but that's never going to happen.

But seriously I don't reminisce. I'm not old enough to have the experience and I'm a sucker for creature comforts. It helps us tolerate our day while thinking about home.

You ever drive a truck with no power steering?
Seriously lacking in the fun dept.
I'm fine with creature comforts.

Only wussies and girly men use mechanical engineering to move freight:toothpick:

Get to it stud:cool:

You ever drive a truck with no power steering?
Yes. About a third of Roadway's trucks didn't have power steering in 2005 when I was there.

They were not hard to drive at all.

Except backing into a parking spot or a dock is damn near impossible.
