I don't really understand all the Swift bashing, but I do know they are one of the largest trucking companies, with more trucks,, more loads and more drivers then any other company. Most of the trucking accidents I read about are caused by the more experienced truckers with all kinds of log violations and driving to fast for road conditions.
My son Hotwheels, drives for Swift and is a very careful and courteous driver. Some of his close calls, have been caused by the older more experienced drivers and the stories he has told me in his over the road miles makes me wonder if they shouldn't have to go to a Swift training class.
Safety is the major concern at Swift and they are teaching all the right things. Just like drivers in your company, some choose to ignore safety and drive dangerously and cause accidents. These drivers deserve to lose their CDL, no matter who they drive for.
When you start reporting on all the bad drivers out there, I think you may be surprised to find that most accidents are caused by the older, more experienced truckers.

Look lady,quit bashing the exp driver.You have absolutely no clue what it's like out here.Many of the new drivers are down right IDIOTS.Not saying the exp drivers are saints because they are not.But ive seen more idiot newbys out here driving crazy then the exp ones.Just because ole hotwheels is new and drives for swift is no reason to bash the exp drivers.

I'm sorry if you took offense to my comments about experienced drivers, or thinking I was bashing anyone. I know there are more safe experienced drivers then bad and dangerous ones. I was merely stating that it isn't always the new swift drivers causing accidents and to take a look at how many experienced, long time drivers cause, or are involved in deadly accidents.
Yes, I am defending Swift, but not just because my son drives for them. It's mostly because of what I have learned about the company and the extensive training and support they give their students and new drivers. Nobody seems to have a problem with bashing swift drivers and I was just trying to point out that all swift drivers are not the only ones causing accidents or driving crazy
I certainly wasn't trying to start an argument about ALL older, experienced drivers, or saying they are all idiots. There is good and bad in all companies, not just swift and not just new drivers.
I have a lot of respect for what you do and what you have to contend with out there and believe me, I do have a clue about all of it. Although I disagree with her statement, I don't think she was actually intending to bash experienced drivers. Maybe merely repeating what her son has said, whom being a newbie would be more likely to be on the defensive than relaying accurate information. In time, I'm sure their opinions will change, lol.

IOUGOD2, Swift jokes and downright bashing are prevalent with any company that trains new drivers. Swift is one of the larger ones and naturally catches more heat. I think it is awesome that your son has had a great learning experience. Not every student does but that is typical in any company.

You can be a safe and cautious driver regardless of experience. Experience helps, but not all new drivers are going to cause accidents. You have 35 years without an accident, and i'm sure those 35 years include your first years behind the wheel as a new driver.

GOAL????????????????????????? What's that,LOL.That's one of the first thing's you should teach your students,that and keep you eyes constantly moving while driving.I wonder why they just now decide to have drivers do this..Maybe because too many accidents and finally after a few thousand they decided to wake up.I always GOAL.There are alot of good swift drivers out here and some impress the hell of the me by their smooth backing.Then I see some doing their best to show off and all I do is shake me head and laugh.Drivers can put GOAL on the qualcomm all they want but that does'nt mean they do it.

The way I see it is it's not so much juvenile but more of a reminder to do that so untill the accidents go down they'll probably have to keep doing it.Some probably just back and it's like second nature and forget to GOAL.So this is like a way for the drivers to always remember to GOAL.

I'm sure it was meant to be a reminder, but also something that looked good on paper to someone in a office. I really don't expect very many drivers will actually do this.

I have not heard anything about typing in GOAL before I back up. What a pain in the ass that would be. I mean it's a good thing to get out and look before you back, but if you set up your truck right and know what you are doing you should have no incidents. They tell me that most of the backing accidents are drivers running into light poles and stuff of that nature. I personally have no problem backing. I rather enjoy it but I do avoid it at all costs.
