HMMM!,U know what that means?
I have not heard anything about typing in GOAL before I back up. What a pain in the ass that would be. I mean it's a good thing to get out and look before you back, but if you set up your truck right and know what you are doing you should have no incidents. They tell me that most of the backing accidents are drivers running into light poles and stuff of that nature. I personally have no problem backing. I rather enjoy it but I do avoid it at all costs.
I have run across other Swift drivers who get messages that I don't get. I personally think that alot of their policies ae in place for those who don't have a clue about what they are doing out here. IE: Talking on the phone while driving, turning in your truck for more than 4 days of home time, etc... If you are moving the freight and not tearing up the equipment, I don't think they will say anything to you. They are mostly directed to those who decline loads, drag their feet across the country getting 1200 or so miles a week, blowing out their PTA so they don't have to drive at night and so on. But this is just my opinion.
Don't hold your breath on that one.Just because you have'nt received that message could mean the dispatchers are required to send it to their drivers and just have'nt got to you yet.
If this is the case, the dispatchers are really behind. The last time someone told me they had a message that I didn't get was back in January. Everyone that I know that runs out of the Greer terminal has gotten the same message that I have. In fact we call each other to see who is sitting so we can find out what the message is.
To add to this, I recieved another message today that we are now supposed to blow the city horn when we are beginning to back up and blow it every few seconds as we back up. I am now looking for the crayons and coloring book inside my cab. They have to be in here somewhere.
How the phuck are you supposed to send messages, blow horns and back up at the same time? Shit, aint nobody that talented!
. i told em i wanted to relocate and the recruter was totaly stumped lolIs anyone using the new Qualcomms with built in GPS? I heard they were in all the new trucks and that they were putting them all their trucks.
Every mile helps, lol. So, are they going to require an e-logs for dummies class, or just figure it out as you go deal?I got on in Memphis the other week. I'm still getting used to it. So far the only thing it's done for me is make my truck go from 60 mph to 63 mph. Other than that, the jury's still out. We're supposed to switch over to e-logs on the 12th. I'm interested to see how that works.
They asked me the other day when I stopped in the Greer terminal if I was typing in G.O.A.L. and blowing my horn while I backed up. I told them no. They asked why and I told them I was a professional driver and professional drivers don't back over shit. If we can't see what's behind us or are not sure we get out to look. It's only common sense. I told them that applies to other drivers who back into poles and signs and other trucks. The last thing I want to be doing is explaining why I backed into a pole. I'd rather be running down the road making $$$$$$$$$$$$.
