Swift set me up to FAIL


I am at the beginning of my new career. I'm a recent grad looking to get hired. Swift is one of the companies I'm looking into.

After reading this I can't help but think that Sean created his own problems. How can one be a truck driver if their attitude is "I'm not going to try"? Is that going to be his attitude on the road? "I can't"?

As a newbie I fully expect to put up with some BS. I'm starting at the bottom. The only way to rise to the top is to work my butt off. It takes commitment, not saying I'm too busy to do it. Whatever company I end up with, I'll be focused on the light at the end of the tunnel in 6 months to a year.
 
U have a great attitude vinsanity youll go far in the trucking industry swift isnt the best choice but u have to start somewhere when i first started it was extremely h.rd but i stuck it out now 7 yrs later im still driving trk i personally think some just isnt cut out for trk driving they think the grass is greener on the other side only to find out it then ran into weeds

This is just another case of stupidity, and those who really did not read.

Though my thread is long, it tells in detail what Swift did to me. I went with a GOOD attitude, but that did not matter. After a lengthly delay in assigning me a truck, they called back on the day I had to leave on a 500 mile trip an hour and a half after I got the truck assignment to give me an assignment which takes most of the day. And being 3 hours from the nearest terminal, there was no way I could start it that day to say nothing of additionally going the 500 miles to get seated in the truck which must be done within 24 hours of getting the assignment. Swift knew what they were doing, they could have told me of the task long before the day I had to leave on a long trip, they knew of the task, they purposly held it from me the way I see it because they did not have trucks. That was their way of terminating my driver code and put me down as a V.Q.. You, Patty and others don't know crap.

The way most seem to be in the trucking industry (and most entering it), this country and the people in it would be in a world of trouble if it were them running the country and calling the shots.

Sean, how do you know they wouldn't have given you a little extra time seeing as how they threw in that extra safety thing? You don't because you were a no show. Had you shown up and they screwed you I would be more inclined to see a problem with the company.

All I can tell you is I read your account and was thinking the whole time about how I would have acted differently. That's it. I see no reason to argue about it. You do things your way and I'll do things mine. I guarantee I won't be fired from two starter companies who basically hire anybody.

vinsanity when i started driving i went with swift. I really liked them (wish i would have stayed). Any way i had to do that same class Sean is talking about they gave me pleanty of notice on it and even routed me to the nearest terminal to do it. You have a great additude going in to this and you will go far. Just remember dont accept a load you can not legally run. They may tell you to take it as long as you have the hours to pick it up and may have you tcall it at a yard or swap with another driver. They willnever ask you to do a illegal load as long as you enter your hours when you do your status in the morning.

You are another who is attempting to twist my thread into something it is not. If you really read it, you'd have seen I was told on the phone I had no choice but to run 3 hours to a terminal to get the task accomplished or lose the truck. I told them there would be no time by the time I got to the terminal. And all is was AFTER I was told by the moron I checked in with everyday "someone on their end dropped the ball". You did not read the thread in full. You and others are putting things there that do not exist and changing the events because I have made enemies here and not kissing ass. Or you are saying I should have knowingly wasted MY time and MY MONEY (which I am sure Swift would not have re-imbursed me for), still lost the truck, just to show I was right and they were wrong. I was not the "no show" you are making it out to be. I told them there was no time to complete the tasks before the close of the day, and I was not going. If that's a now show, then so be it. I guess I was supposed to waste MY MONEY by going - Swift was not going to re-imburse me for that. So part of giving 100% is getting ripped off or wasting your money for something screwed up on their end - because they "dropped the ball". Yeah right, I'm a sucker. Just shows the morons in the industry, and frankly I could care less what you people think. Seems patty did not read from those who have agreed with me, but she's an airhead too.

Personally I could care less what experienced drivers or newbies believe. I posted my experience - tough crap for those who don't like it.

Total morons. Here's another one trying to tell of something that does not exist in my Swift thread. Swift was not the problem with the load times, it was Werner. The problem with Swift was the fact they had plenty of time to tell me of an assignment which takes the day, but conveniently waited until I had to leave on a 500 mile trip to get a truck I had to be seated in within 24 hours. Short and simple enough for you?!?! I can't get to a lower level of intelligence here.:rolllaugh: MORONS - It's "Sean's a pain in the ass, we don't like what he had to say, we don't believe it, so let's do all we can to discredit him" analogy.

Of course it's a good one to you and others I have not kissed up to.

It did not happen to you or some others; therefore, I am lying - it could not have possibly happened to me.

You and some others have had a good experience with Swift, Werner, or whatever company; therefore, it's my own fault I did not. Everyone else has to have a good experience too, or something is wrong with that individual.

vinsanity will not be fired from starter companies who hire anybody because he will be another who will brown nose and kiss butt. But with an ego like that, I'll laugh my butt off if he is on here a few months from now telling of the big mistake he made.

Swift just laid off hundreds of drivers. Why do they need new drivers to fill jobs that are not there? If it's not the USING of people to obtain and ABUSE the Government subsidy program, someone tell me what it is. What kind of industry terminates hundreds of people, and at the same time, hires hundreds of people?!?!

well it happened again...... after taking my truck in for the second time (the first time they did nothing) I was told my speedo problem was fixed. I even got a repair order signed by a mechanic..... Well I was stopped and ticketed again for 10 miles over the speed limit, when I know I was going the speed limit (according to my speedo) THATS 3 TICKETS IN 4 WEEKS!
Well truck went back into the shop (for the 3rd time) and yet another repair order saying it's fixed....(signed by mechanic again).... If I don't get out of these tix I'm basically done. They will pull my licence for sure for at least 6 mos. and then insurance will be so expensive for me that no one will hire me. My only saving grace will be the repair orders showing the truck was in the shop 3 different times....I can only hope the judge see it my way.......I hate the company I work for. Swift sucks....
 
Wow deal with one minor problem and you hate the company for it. Face it man shit happens! I hate to be blunt like this but look at the overall facts.

1. Are you making money?

2. Are you getting the miles?

3. Don't let the little B.S. get in the way of what you are really getting done, those are just minor setbacks.

4. 3 tickets in 4 weeks, maybe it was a "mechanical" issue but I see driver error here. You should have went the same speed limit as you was before they got it fixed just to cover your ass.

5. Wait a minute isn't Swift governed at 62 mph?

6. You can estimate how fast your going by what gear your in. Again I say driver error on the speeding when you can estimate speed by knowing what gear your in.
