So, we are now the owners of a new hybrid Prius!

maybe you should put some 93 octane in that focus it might make it go like a rocketship:rolllaugh3:. the oil companies love people that put 93 octane in there little eco boxes thinking that it will make em like rocketships. after doing research only 23.5 percent of millionaires drive NEW cars and that most wealthy house holds don't drive luxury imports. and that ford was the most popular brand among millionaires. interesting
Nah... go fer th' gusto. Get a tank of 145 octane avgas. The purple stuff.

That'll get her goin'!!!

That is a valid point. They could damage the engine also.
You won't damage the motor but you're likely getting no benefit from it.

It's like pouring 7 gallons into a 5 gallon container.
7 is higher so it must be better right?

The higher octane simply resists knocking better and if your car doesn't call for it you will get no benefit from it.
Unless you got some carbon build up...maybe....maybe it cleans some of that up but otherwise it's just confirmation bias.

Hell, even mixing in a lower octane, you probably won't notice anything.
*The computer in your vehicle will pull some timing out and you will be none the wiser.*

*This is intended as a one time kinda deal....maybe you put the wrong gas in by accident. NOT telling you it's ok to go lower on a regular basis.

Now I gotta go....I've said too much already.

Buy Premium, I needs to stay employed!
So I can afford a bunch of new toques!

The general consensus seems to be that you're already one toque over the line.

i remember reading an article a while back. BP said that we have another 58 years of oil in the earth. how ever i see electrifcation becoming more and more popular once the oil gets to expensive to extract!!!

this is the thing three tree huggers fail to grasp. Oil isn't going away until the newer technologies become cost competitive. Once they are cheaper than oil, oil will fade away as a fuel source.

i don't think that there will ever be a dominant fuel unless were forced into by the gubberment. they tried the same thing back in the old days and there never was a dominant fuel then!!!
