New EOBR Petition Thread

Yep. The only people who complain about organized crime are those who don't benefit from it. As you mentioned: the big companies are doing it, and that's how they get what they want from washington. That's the game and if you want YOUR voice heard you better learn how to play. Its a simple case of follow the money.

Sorry no. I will avail myself of my vote, and of my right to chastise my employee(elected officials). I will make comments when the opportunity arises, I will attempt to reason with those lacking it.

I will not however lower myself to being a looter. Part of the reason I pulled my membership. OOIDA started as a member action company to have their members talk to their employee's. Now they pay lip service while collecting 6 figure salaries from Uncle Sugar, paying of political bribes and influence in their DC office, and put up a smoke screen to keep their enrollment numbers high because that is their claim as a voice. They are no longer my voice, in fact I never wanted them to be my voice I just wanted someone to do the reading for me. Should have know better. Always do you own homework because Grain Valley will flat lie if it suits their needs of the moment.

Sure. Let me know how that works for you. WHo do you think congressmen are going to listen to: the people who are going to bankroll his reelection, or you?

I thought there was a rule where teams had to have a period of 4hrs per day when neither driver could drive. This was so they would at least get that sleep uninterrupted. I could be wrong or maybe they changed it.

They should just make it illegal to log "sleeper" if the truck is moving. :leer:

If we have lost(and I am pretty much in agreement that it is not returnable) I will not compromise myself trying to prevent it. To do so would make me not me and that would suck.
All the money in the world doesn't cast a vote though so there may still be hope.Well except that those needing votes have also gotten pretty good at payi ng for influence to their constituents.

The premise of that article is that drivers are doing all of their logging at the same time, presumably, at the end of the day. It is not legal to do this. The regulation specifies logs must be current to the last change of duty status. It takes 30 seconds to draw a couple of lines and a location. All load and trailer information still needs to be entered into the computer and there must still be some method of recording DVIRs. All of this stuff takes time. In my case, while I don't have to fool with the elog to place myself on the driving line, the data entry is time consuming and cumbersome. The time involved evens out.

I just read that EOBR's actually save money for owner operators, and you all were worried about the cost. :)

What is the real EOBR cost to an Owner Operator?

Propaganda, disseminated by those who would benefit from the implementation of these things.

One statement says that the driver gets and extra 15 minutes a day with the use of EOBR's through "time savings". What? It doesn't go into detail as to how the damn thing saves time, it simply makes the claim.

It goes on to say that the potential to lose a page or a partial logbook is very real. Again, what? If a driver is so disorganized that he or she can't keep track of a document as important as their daily duty status log then they shouldn't be driving an 80,000 pound missile.

Then it states time spent planning available drive and duty time with consideration of pickup and delivery appointments can be daunting. Automatic HOS through an EOBR gives undisputable information for loading and unloading delays that drivers can, in turn, use to charge load detention fees. Two separate things here. First, once a driver has been doing this work for a few months if they don't have a handle on how long it takes to run the lanes their company frequents, then again, they don't have their head in the game, they have it up their, um, well, you know. Second, if you can't get a shipper or receiver to pay detention with paper logs, they ain't gonna pay with e-logs, even if you beat them over the skull with the damn thing.

I still think that this stuff is too much intrusion into our lives.

I've said it before, the tachograph came and went and these things will do the same. Neither did anything for safety or productivity, and contributed to mistrust, hate and discontent.

The tachograph is still mandatory, and as been for as long as I can recall (30+ years), in Europe.

Folks these people spend more on keeping their employees stocked with toilet paper per day than OOIDA's annual budget. So you keep whining about bought and paid for politicians, all the while hypocritically trying to buy your own through those people whom keep you bufffaloed. I am sure you will garner the exact same results achieved to date which when examined outside of their quaint little puff paper is slim and none.

Do what you can with what you got.
You're right about the budget. We wouldn't stand a chance against one of the myriad foes on money alone.
Our most valuable asset is the ability to set the phones on fire although it doesn't happen often enough.
Beyond that, you're talking more **** than Sly's little turd icon. :rolleyes2:

We would never have the ante-in to buy any politician, but if you want to be represented in that arena by a person with the acumen, education and background to be effective, you ain't gonna get him/her for $7.50 an hour and a free happy meal.
Your vague accusations make you look petty and unable to level any actual complaint(s).
Plus I find them offensive. :harumph:

Apology accepted.

first of all.. emissions problems have been around for years. the automotive industry has emissions down considerably, and my car IS NOT in the shop for anything but an oil change.
Yeah, after 15 years of dicking around.
The first thing we learned to do on early emissions B/S was eliminate them.

the truck emissions will continue to be a hot topic, and the industry will HAVE TO MEET all EPA standards as time comes.

Either that or find a work-around.
cars these days get better fuel mileage then ever before, and those numbers are climbing steadily as well.

Nobody GAF whether you're getting 26 or 30 in your 12K a year POS!!
And BTW, I once had a Buick wildcat bigger than my first apartment that would get 30 MPG if you kept your foot out of it...
or launch into low earth orbit if you romped it. :leer:

we cannot fight the EPA, or the CARB, these changes will continue.

Go Down Swingin' :numchucks:

right now, many emission systems for trucks are still in the infancy stage of growing. things will get better,, but when..?? i do not know. but if you are a company driver..?? what's your beef about it....you ain't paying for it...

if you're an o/o then you keep up with your equipment, buy when you can, what else can be said about that..??

it's the way it is, the way it's gonna be...

2 MPG is about $20K per year.
If you keep a truck 5 years, that's $100K!!
Plus the THOUSANDS of extra dollars in M&R.
And even if you are a company driver...
that's $25k-$30k per year plus amortize another $5k per annum for the additional purchase price, never mind the abysmal resale...
that's $30k-$35k PER YEAR!!!!
How do you suppose that effects the funds available for incidental expenses....
LIKE YOUR PAYCHECK??
Elementary math isn't your strong suit, is it Jethro? :toothpick:

can't keep up with the emissions changes on an older truck..?? then junk it, ship it to Mexico, wherever, or buy a new one that MEETS the standards, or go out of business.

Can't & won't are two different things.
Like I said, I know people who have been bankrupted by unconscionable government incompetence.
I'll keep running my 13 year old truck until they pry it from my dead cold fingers,
or until they make it impossible...
and I'll CONTINUE doing it for less M/R cost yearly than some others are spending monthly...
which is how I get along working 4 days a week and taking off 8-10 weeks a year.

again..if anyone thought that trucking was going to stay behind the changes and stay the way it had been since the "horse and buggy and teamsters" then one is sadly mislead. the only thing constant is....change....you either adapt, or leave....and let the stronger ones move up, on and survive.

Yeah...
'preciate the advice...
but I'm gonna go ahead and stick with plan A for the moment. :2guns:

But I'll look you up if I ever need 300 days out for 200 days pay. :eek2:

Please do not call him "Jethro".

Ian Anderson would be offended. :leer:

Blood you and I both know the" insider" they hired last(or at least when I left) was and is a career politician whom had been fired by the people he was employed by(the people of the state of PA) so should have been removed from Washington.

I find it hypocritical in the extreme people like you will advocate term limits and then condone the hiring of these parasites. And lets not forget this yack off's particular specialty was drug legislation. Yeah I can see how it makes perfect sense to hire a drug expert to represent Grain Valley because those people are obviously partaking in some good crap.

What picture of the kid toucher are you referring too? Did the little maggot post a self portrait I missed?

kid toucher

You ought to stop making unfounded allegations.

Nobody goes around calling you serial killer.
Even though there are numerous eyewitnesses to at least couple of death threats you made.
Plus the time you (claim to have) exercised great restraint by only assaulting a driver after an accident.

Keep screwing around and you're liable to lose the privilege of bearing arms. :cage:
