Congrats to your daughter and tell her I thank her for her service to our nation.
My four years in the military definitely changed my life. Never had friends in the civilian world like the ones I served with.
She’ll see places she’d probably otherwise never see. She’ll experience things most never will. Just tell her to be careful who she trust and what she says. Lots of snitches in the military that think they’ll get ahead by bringing someone else down.
The Navy officially annoys me more than whe they were my personal Uber.
Still haven’t seen the kid since she left for boot camp which was never really a full boot camp.
Friday, she finished school and left on Saturday to report to her unit.
It was a commercial flight, so she will now be confined to her room for 14 days. She can’t to to a chow hall to eat. She can’t go to the store on base to buy something as simple as shampoo. If she needs anything, somebody will have to bring it to he, leave it at her door, knock, and run away.
And apparent, it will be a 35 minute drive to the hangar where she will work, as her housing is in Virginia Beach. That means, a vehicle is needed to perform an NCO pay grade job. That is absolutely freaking stupid.
This will be the 192847384847247th time she has had to be in quarantine.
This is not the military I knew, or at least not how I viewed it from the Marine Corps.

Well, since she is going to have to drive round trip from Virginia Beach to Norfolk everyday, rather than being on a carrier, we made a trip to some dealerships.
My plan was a Toyota Corolla. Because more safety features and I’m a worrier, lol.
In the end, we found our way to the Ford dealer. 0% financing for the win, especially when you are throwing gap coverage and a 100k zero $ deductible into the financing.
Came home with an EcoSport. 4wd model. We only went about $10k over the planned budget when we left the house this morning.

Lotta good it's gonna do her in Arkansaw.
Waiting to get the finance paperwork, which will take a couple weeks since somebody in their office got Covid2094583968349548. Once we get the license plate on it, we are road tripping to Virginia Beach for a short vacation.
Haven't decided whether to drive her car out there, then rent a car back, or take her car and the Jeep. Probably take the Jeep.....

She knows. She was with us via Facetime on a few test drives today. It was a surprise when she was awakened to go on the test drives.

Yeah I think he's got an F-150 with a 0.027 liter scooter engine. But it's fast because it's got 18 turbos on it and runs at 96,000 RPM.
Or something like that.
I'm not entirely familiar with the ecoboost engines.
